President-elect Donald Trump is expected controversially to move Space Command headquarters out of Colorado to Alabama.
Space Command, separate from the Trump-created Space Force, has been the center of a yearslong dispute about whether to put its headquarters in Colorado or Alabama. Trump has favored the deep-red Alabama, while Biden favored the deep-blue Colorado. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) told Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5 that Trump would settle the dispute as one of his first moves in office.
"President Trump said in the campaign that he was going to reverse that decision if elected," he said, referring to Biden's decision to move the headquarters to Colorado. "But I knew he would because if you remember, not only did Alabama win two nationwide competitions, but President Trump's secretary of the Air Force recommended Huntsville, President Biden's secretary of the Air Force recommended Huntsville, and then Biden took it away for political reasons."
"But it's going to be a big point now because President Trump's already announced it, and I think you'll see in the first week that he's in office, he'll sign an executive order reversing Biden's directive," he continued. "And we will start construction next year in Huntsville."

More space cadets in Colorado.
Wasn’t Star Fleet command supposed to be in San Francisco? Yeah yeah I know science fiction. :)

Redstone has tons of extra space, if you wanted add buildings....lot of property to expand upon.

Yep. Sounds good to me. Get it the hell out of Colorado.
Yes, but Huntsville has the brain power. In addition, it is where Wernher von Braun established his research.
It should have been at the Marshall Space Flight Center in the first place.

The Army is the dominant player at Redstone.
Yay for Huntsville! I just love that place. My grandson is in college there so maybe he might work there. Huntsville is now the largest city in Alabama which many may not know.
Huntsville has long been a hotbed of classified-level government workers. An infrastructure of espionage-prevention is already in place. Good call, Mr. President!

Huntsville. Where our rocketry and space programs began.
“a well-deserved slam against Colorado, it also looks like a slam against the USAF”
I sincerely doubt that Trump will do this as being some sort of “slam” of his against CO or the Air Force, regardless of what the “optics” may suggest.
Controversially, huh?
How much of American’s money has been spent by this vindictive administration just to stick it to DJT.
These people need to be put on trial and jailed. Every penny of their pension needs to be diverted to paying us back for their revenge that they took out on us.
Too many crazies in Colorado. Get it the hell out!
And there is access to two universities which have lots of research ties to Marshall Space Flight. University of Alabama in Huntsville often works in conjunction with Marshall and the School of Engineering at Auburn University has contributed MANY NASA engineers (my brother-in-law being one of them) and astronauts themselves. Alabama and space flight work hand in glove.
Off topic, I am an alumna of both those institutions.
I was going to say that there’s a LOT of space here in the Oak Ridge, TN, area for something like that. But if AL is where the space program began it makes sense for it to be there.
