WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump has selected former Rep. Lee Zeldin to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, The Post can exclusively report.
Zeldin, 44, served four terms as a Republican congressman repping Long Island before losing the 2022 New York governor’s race to Kathy Hochul by a surprisingly close margin.
“I am deeply honored to have been asked by President Trump to serve in his Cabinet. As EPA Administrator, we will restore American energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, make the United States the global leader of Artificial Intelligence advancement, and slash the red tape holding back American workers from upward economic mobility,” Zeldin said in a statement to The Post.

Hopefully he’ll be as good as Scott Pruitt.
I’d have preferred a Texan or someone from an energy state, but he’ll work.
Hopefully he can get a good value for a 50%+ cut in their budget.
Lee Zeldin strikes me as the type of person who can handle just about any challenge that comes his way. The EPA will be in good hands.
He’ll be fine, he will represent Trump’s policies.
I assume he will also have to do a lot of housecleaning.
Agree.
A Texan or a Pennsylvanian would’ve been sweet, but, I like Lee.

Better idea:
Save Zeldin for a worthwhile post, and simply shut down EPA. Every state has its own EPA, the Fedzilla one is simply another redundant bureaucracy.
The stupid one was in taking a NY rep that we desperately need out of congress.
Sounds like the right man for the job. Happy happy...
Every appointee so far is great! We’re definitely making America great again!
cram it clown
“Every state has its own EPA”
I hate to say it, but environmental regs are one thing that must be at the federal level. When car emission controls were just getting started in the 60s, California had its own requirements and the auto market was a mess. Moving to California with an out-of-state car was awful — you had to have CA equipment retrofitted to your car!
Imagine every manufacturer with operations in many states having to deal with 50 different regulations? And emission control equipment manufacturers having to build custom products for every state? What a gigantic mess that would be and the costs would be astronomical.
hopefully he can help President Trump get Congress to eliminate about 90 percent of EPA (save only for environmental reviews for any large, multi-state projects, etc), let’s let the states handle their own affairs. The states are the general sovereigns under our system of governance. The feds have hundreds of useless, harmful, or oppressive agencies that need strict and prompt review for elimination or at least substantial streamlining and redirection.
C’mon Donald, you gotta’ bring back Mike Flynn in some capacity so he can get his pound of flesh. Head of NSA perhaps?
It sounds like you need another fix- Junkie
You know, it’s almost like anyone NOT from the NE corridor or California is considered incapable of much of anything by the folks in Washington, and this includes Trump. He would do well to look to people from outside those areas, the ones who haven’t been infected or indoctrinated.
New pro ICE regs, roll back future idiot mileage standards, allow small pickups. pipelines.
They must be pretty confident about how the uncalled House races are going to go.
