Massie Should Go Full Milei on the USDA
National Review ^ | Dominic Pino

Rumors are swirling that Representative Thomas Massie (R., Ky.) is under consideration to be secretary of agriculture in the incoming Trump administration. A committed libertarian such as Massie would be a good person to lead perhaps our most socialistic government department.

Trump’s first agriculture secretary, former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue, was a more status quo pick. Massie, or someone like him, would be a positive sign that Trump intends to keep his promise to shake up the federal bureaucracy and reduce the power that Washington, D.C., holds in American life.

Massie is a queer bird. He’s my congressman and is one of the true defenders of the Constitution in DC. He’s smart, innovative and would take a meat axe to the Agriculture Department.

Independent and mildly Never Trumper, he has never cultivated many friends in the swamp. He’d be a fantastic pick. Unfortunately, he’s the last guy I’d want to loose in the House.

He’s been my pick to replace that sack of crap McConnell.

I don’t think we can afford Massey or other house members to be put into the administration and put the balance in the house at risk

Agree. I respect him. Need many more like him. Not sure id want to lose him. RFK would be another good one to lead USDA.

Trump should go full Milei on the entire federal government.

Just think how low our taxes would be.

Maybe those laid off could “learn to code” like Biden told the coal miners. Or better, move to Canada.

Maggie thatcher came in a year before Reagan. This seems to be playing itself out.

I’d support that if by exile you mean small, very old rubber life rafts in the middle of the pacific, with the waters around them being chummed for sharks. I accept that approach.

I’ve read that the only thing Ag does these days is distribute welfare checks. It’s an agency that should go away. Keep Massie in the House!

Overhaul it and move it to Iowa or Idaho or one of those farmer states. Nebraska.

Musk will be the axe Trump needs to reduce the fed government.

That sort of exile is closer to the Deep Six treatment.

The few Democratic ads I was unable to hit the “skip” button in time ran a bit like this...”preserve our right to (fill in horrible policy here) keep doing this to you.” An Ad for trans policy might go, “preserve our right to castrate your son.” Obviously, they weren’t that bad, but that’s the way I interpreted them. An ad in Florida, word for word went, “Governor Scott signed into law the most draconian abortion law in the country. There are “almost” no exceptions for rape or incest.” I haven’t read the law but the fact they had to add “almost” literally meant there were exceptions, but we’re not highlighting them because we want unrestricted abortions whenever the woman wants one. The anti-abortion constitutional amendment failed. I was surprised because the ads seemed effective if you were already in favor of abortion.

On the other hand, I think the Republican turnout was probably the best I’ve seen since Reagan.

This should be the kiss of death for Massie. When the leading rino establishment publication in the world writes you a puff piece you have been brutally exposed as the rino that you are. He’s all talk. He’s never trump. And now The NR loves him.

Nuke ethanol subsidies!

Trump is a lame duck. Iowa can go suck a rock. Vance can win the nomination without Big Corn. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Happy to have you back as the morally bankrupt foil.

Massie as Secretary of Ag is a pipe dream. No one is going to touch AG in a meaningful way because it exists to buy votes and the GOPee has benefited as much as any Dim by it. Trump likes to brag about what he has done for farmers and getting rid of the subsidy gravy train won’t sit well. For instance, see what happens if he goes after ethanol.

I’ve been on slow boil watching the Dems stealing a House majority. Although I’ve been around. I started a thread yesterday regarding how Trump is the only shot you and Israel have to save your hapless asses from your hero.

“The Iranian president is as pro western as you’ll ever get. Iran did not want or aspire to nuclear status.
The Iranians want rapprochement with the West. Iran does NOT want to escalate. There is a MAD final equilibrium now.

Trump must know the strength of Iranian air defense and ballistic missiles. They were shown to the world 10/1 and 10/25. Israel is in a no win situation. Israel is now the 2nd conventional power in the region.

The Trump deal would deescalate and give Bibi a face saving out of Gaza, Lebanon and defeat (conventional or MAD) at the hands of Iran.

Trump will do the deal and save Israel from Bibi.

Remember how stunned everyone was when Trump went to North Korea to deal with Little Rocket Man (that ba$tard Pompeo derailed the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula process).”

Good grief. How would the swamp people deal with the tornadoes that they would get if their agencies and departments moved to Tornado Alley
