In the wake of Trump’s return, the EU refuses to compromise on Ukrainian war aims

In the wake of the U.S. presidential election, which saw a return to power of Donald Trump, European leaders at the Political Community summit in Budapest this week reiterated their stance that the EU must stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes. Ireland’s prime minister, Simon Harris, said this in a resolute statement:

The US had its election, and it made its decision but that doesn’t change European values, and European values around the importance of the UN Charter, the importance of territorial integrity remain.

However, if championing the importance of territorial integrity was a paramount European value, should not that principle have been applied equally to all members of the European community? If my memory serves me well, two decades earlier, the European Union consented to NATO bombing of Serbia in support of secessionists in Serbia’s Kosovo region.

This same generation of European leaders, which champion Western liberal hegemony, are not only contemptuous of Putin. They are also scornful of populist leaders in the West that do not march in lockstep with their globalist agenda. They make no secret of their displeasure with the American electorate’s decision to restore Donald Trump to power. Trump is not an adherent to the globalist agenda and regarding the war in Ukraine, he is pragmatic. He believes that a deal can be brokered.

After all, it was Western liberal delusions that provoked Putin. Putin’s pushback should have come as no surprise. The West had been encroaching on Russia’s sphere of influence and jeopardizing its key strategic interests, a concern that Putin consistently and forcefully highlighted. U.S. and European leaders made a critical error by trying to transform Ukraine into a Western foothold on Russia’s border. With the consequences now clear, persisting with this misguided policy would be an even graver mistake.

If the EU and European NATO countries are determined to keep the proxy war in Ukraine going, Trump should pull us out of NATO.

He should anyway. NATO has become more of threat to national and world security than an asset to either.

The Euros should have been paying full freight all the way. It’s their war, not ours.

If the EU feels this way, they should provide Ukraine with the offensive weapons and permission to use them deep into Russian Territory.

Of course, they won’t do that.

The war is on the European continent, let them take the lead (and costs) in dealing with it.

They can do what they want. But what they are doing is sheer folly. They want full on war and refuse to sit and talk. Even when Putin says he’s ready to talk, I guess they see that as weakness (which it may be) but the bloodlust is just too strong among them. Jaw jaw is better than war war.

There is no need to abandon anyone here. Just stop with the USA funding the MIC to and State Department pushing our allies to give their stuff to Ukraine and then have new stuff given to them with our tax dollars.

When we withdraw our support of dollars and equipment, the EU will be unable to go it alone. I feel for the Ukrainian people, but Zelensky has made enough money off of this grift.

NATO has been weaponized as a propaganda and social-engineering tool against America itself.

They can get away with so much more when its done off-shore.

Denial of reality won’t help Europe but it will get more Ukrainians killed. They have logistics people in their trenches now, the combat forces have been decimated and desertions are rising. A Ukraine soldier just related that his outfit was 100 strong a few weeks ago, they are now zero. They are all gone, they either died from artillery and drones or deserted. Russia’s biggest problem is it’s running out of flags to put up at all the towns it takes.

So the EU does not want to compromise? That’s OK with me, just leave the US military, US weapons and US money out of that war. Let them fight their own war.

Never happen. NATO is our favorite power tool. If Trump tries to pull us out (which he will not), he will end up like JFK.

Zelensky posted he had an “excellent” call with Trump and congratulated him on his landslide victory:
“Strong and unwavering US leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace.”

Netanyahu called Trump to say, “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”

Sniffle....we’re as close to Ukrainian and Mideast pea$e as we’ve ever been.....sob.

If the EU feels this way, they should provide Ukraine with the offensive weapons and permission to use them deep into Russian Territory.

Then, the Russians will kick their ass.

But, if that happens, we're under no obligation to get involved even if the European nation doing that is part of NATO.
