Rep. Young Kim (R-CA), one of three Korean American women who were first elected to Congress in 2020, defended her Orange County seat and will return to the House, putting Republicans one step closer to an overall majority.
NBC Los Angeles reported:
Kim, who won the district two years ago by 14% points, ran on the platform of supporting small business, tightening the southern border and decreasing taxes.
…
Kim faced former fire captain and union president Joe Kerr. Kerr, who served for more than 30 years with the Orange County Fire Authority.
Kerr ran on protecting reproductive freedoms, increasing taxation on major corporations, and increasing funding to police departments, fire departments, and first responders. He was unsuccessful in his 2022 bid for a state Senate seat and the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 2018.
Elsewhere in California, Republican incumbents looked likely to keep their seats, as Rep. David Valadao (R-CA) survived a challenge in the Central Valley in which Democrats attacked him for supporting Trump’s impeachment.

Within two, last I heard.
Great!
To quote Jerry Nadler:
“Full Speed Ahead!”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
At 9:38 ET the count is Rep 211, Dem 199. Just 7 more Rep needed for majority. (Reference: Fox News - House race)
So Joe Kerr, say it fast, has lost.
No enema for the nation then. Shame that, it needs one! 😆
Of the most marginal endangered GOP incumbents in CA: Valadao was one of them (and he has apparently won); Kim was not one of them — this time.
Kim is a very moderate/squishy type, as are most CA Republicans in Congress, and the Rats took it easy on her in 2024 by allowing her to amass a 4:1 cash advantage over her rather haples sopponent.
That’s not something they normally permit, especially if they feel they can win. Kim is not likely to get such a free ride in 2026, when Democrats (like in 2018) will do everything in their power to thwart the Trump agenda.
We can get California if the GOP only worked for it.
Joe Kerr? I would have been called Joseph.
Koreans don’t fool around when it comes to things like Communism. They’ve seen it...up close and personal.
CA has shown this election that it can be turned around—because the Democrats have ticked off Hispanic men with their woke antics and horrific economic policies.
If the Republicans can find some street fighting leadership—including Hispanic men—who want it really badly—they can do this.
They need to get rid of the old guard who is used to losing—and get new young people to replace them.
Lame candidates, like Steve Garvey won’t cut it.
She’s a pretty liberal Republican but ok
According to 270to win, it is 204-D to 216-R with 12 undecided seats.

It’s no longer strictly conservative vs liberal.
It’s Globalist vs Nationalist.
And a Liberal Nationalist is an ally. That’s the folks like Rogan, RFK Jr, etc.
Liz Cheney is an example of the Conservative Globalist.
Garvey who is also pretty lib did fantastic for California. He got 42 percent. Way better than I expected. Some of our best candidates get 20-25.
He is likeable, well known, articulate. California needs major voting reform before we can do better.
Large swaths of us are red, geographically. But the Los Angeles basin and the San Francisco Bay Area have huge populations and are very liberal.
Sam Francisco passed a nasty abortion supporting prop by 82 percent for example. It’s that bad here.
Exactly.
Open borders is a globalist policy.
Closed borders is a nationalist policy.
It is a bright dividing line—no middle ground there.
Garvey who is also pretty lib did fantastic for California. He got 42 percent.
Might have gotten more if he supported Trump.
HOW come fairly smart people/politicians cannot understand that EVERY DOLLAR you TAX a company gets passed on to CONSUMERS?????
They seem to view such taxes as PUNISHMENT for a company even being in existence, also.
