Pro-Life Republican Tim Sheehy, a businessman and former Navy SEAL, has won the Montana Senate race, unseating Democratic Senator Jon Tester, who is an ardent abortion advocate.
With strong support from GOP leadership, Sheehy emphasizes issues like veterans’ welfare, national security, and economic growth. Senator Tester, a three-term Democrat, ran a well-funded campaign but lost 53-44 percent in a key Senate pickup for Republicans.
Sheehy released the following statement after his victory:
“I’ve been serving our country since I was 18, because when your country calls, you must answer, and I am incredibly honored by your support and the trust you’ve placed in me to fight for you and serve Montana as your next U.S. Senator.
“Since day one, we’ve been running a grassroots campaign, talking directly with Montanans about how we make Montana affordable again, make America strong again, and bring back Montana common sense, which means a secure border, safe streets, cheap gas, cops are good, criminals are bad, boys are boys, and girls are girls.
“My promise to every Montanan is simple: As your senator, I will always fight for Montanans, put America First, and do the right thing in office because it’s the right thing for Montana and America — I’ll never be bought by the lobbyists, special interests, and the D.C. swamp.
“We The People made our voices heard, we completed our mission, and now we will secure our children’s future and save America together – thank you, Montana!
Republicans account for nearly 40% of likely voters in Montana, while Democrats only account for about a quarter, according to an AARP poll from Sept. 5. This put Tester at an electoral disadvantage.
Sheehy is a Purple Heart recipient and previously served as a Navy SEAL in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Republican challenger also went into the race with an endorsement from former President Donald Trump that he received in February.
Tester first won his seat in 2006 after he was narrowly elected against Republican incumbent Conrad Burns. He then won reelection in 2012 against former Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg and in 2018 against Rosendale. He voted pro-abortion 100% of the time in the Senate.
Excellent! Just as I knew he would.
YES!
Good riddance to Jon Tester!
Yeah baby!
Tester and Brown went down . Couldn’t happen to nicer people.
Every former authentic military serviceman we can get into Congress, the better this country will be. Now we have two former SEALS from Montana - Zinke and Sheehy. I never could figure out how a guy like Tester got elected in Montana. There are other good guys like Eli Crane (Arizona) and Morgan Lutrell (Texas) also serving in Congress.
The Democrats cheated Tester into the Senate in 2006.
The Democrat Governor of Montana at that time, Brian Schweitzer, bragged to a room full of lawyers about his cheating.
Tester gave us Obamacare.
President Trump is really smiling about this one.
Impossible, too many here were doomsaying us on the abortion issue. Clearly fake news. /s
Aside from Trump beating the snot out of the whore, this was the one I wanted most.
