Texas AG says Catholic charity is smuggling migrants into US, running a ‘stash house’
NY Post ^ | 11/03/2024 | Isabel Vincent

A charity run shelter in El Paso, Texas stands accused of “planning and facilitating” illegal migrants to cross over the border from Mexico into the US, according to court documents.

The accusation of brazen illegality is part of a suit filed by the state Attorney General Ken Paxton against Annunciation House, a Catholic group who run a handful of shelters providing temporary housing to migrants who have illegally crossed into the US.

Paxton launched an investigation earlier this year into the charity, demanding the immediate release of documentation about its migrant clients, which it has refused to do.

“Annunciation House publicly depicts itself as a humble organization dedicated to ‘simply liv[ing] the Good News of the Gospel’ and providing ‘compassion and freedom’ to ‘outcast[s] or alien[s],'” papers filed in year in El Paso County Court say, adding: “The actual operations of Annunciation House are quite different.

“Annunciation House staff … made multiple admissions that they had assisted migrants in the past in the United States who had not surrendered to Border Patrol, had assisted persons in Mexico in crossing over to the United States in the past, and they intended to continue these activities in the future.

The shelters are run by Ruben Garcia, a Catholic activist who has been likened to a living saint for helping migrants in El Paso for nearly 50 years.

But Paxton alleges he his organization is involved in human smuggling and further accuses the group of “boasting” that it helps “migrants who avoided Border Patrol when crossing the Rio Grande, out of fear that agents would send them back to Mexico.”

“Annunciation House contracts with a local company once or twice a week to transport migrants in passenger vans in groups of approximately 15,” court papers say.

FINALLY! Someone says what we all know out loud. The Catholics are responsible for a lot of illegals coming into the country. They aid them, encourage them, sponsor them, recruit them.

I see Catholic Charities box trucks go by here like clockwork on Tuesday and Thursday at about noon headed East into the hills where I suspect there is a staging spot for illegals. There is nothing else over that way.

New Yawk has begun flying their “life enriching” illegal alien “influencers” to Texas. I guess they got tired of them after they voted early.

Its not news that the two biggest sponsors of illegal alien disbursement are the Catholic Charities and the Baptist church. They get paid big bucks.

This is the democrat party platform that JFK ran on in 1960.
Immigration:

We shall adjust our immigration, nationality and refugee policies to ELIMINATE DISCRIMINATION AND TO ENABLE MEMBERS OF SCATTERED FAMILIES ABROAD TO BE UNITED WITH RELATIVES ALREADY IN OUR MIDST.

THE NATIONAL-ORIGINS QUOTA SYSTEM OF LIMITING IMMIGRATION CONTRADICTS THE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES OF THIS NATION. It is inconsistent with our belief in the rights of man. This system was instituted after world war I AS A POLICY OF DELIBERATE DISCRIMINATION BY A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESS.

The revision of immigration and nationality laws we seek will implement our belief that enlightened immigration, naturalization and refugee policies and humane administration of them are important aspects of our foreign policy.

These laws will bring greater skills to our land, reunite families, permit the United States to meet its fair share of world programs of rescue and rehabilitation, and take advantage of immigration as an important factor in the growth of the American economy.

In this World Refugee Year it is our hope to achieve admission of our fair share of refugees. We will institute policies to alleviate suffering among the homeless wherever we are able to extend our aid.

We must remove the distinctions between native-born and naturalized citizens to assure full protection of our laws to all. There is no place in the United States for “second-class citizenship.”

The protections provided by due process, right of appeal, and statutes of limitation, can be extended to non-citizens without hampering the security of our nation.

We commend the Democratic Congress for the initial steps that have recently been taken toward liberalizing changes in immigration law. However, this should not be a piecemeal project and we are confident that a Democratic President in cooperation with Democratic Congresses will again implant a humanitarian and liberal spirit in our nation’s immigration and citizenship policies.

Al fin-Catholic Charities is not a charity any more-it is a human smuggling operation funded by individuals who profit from this. Their donor list needs to be published, and the saintly Mr. Garcia needs to face charges, along with those donors...

It was JFK’s Catholic dream.

“However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Boston’s WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.

In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedy’s blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960.
In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.

After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFK’s legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, “I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies.” Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.”

Catholic Charities has been doing this for a few years. Everybody knows it, but has let it slide.

I have no problem with Annunciation House providing lodging for migrants WHILE THE DEPORTATION PROCESS GOES FORWARD. At least those people will be easy to locate and send back to Mexico (or wherever) once the process is complete. But I doubt that is what has the A.G. concerned. If the charity is making it easier for the illegal aliens to stay in the U.S. and avoid the law they need to be held to account.

All NGOs, religious or not, get big bucks for being involved in assisting immigrants (legal or otherwise).

I believe many of the Catholic “charities” are like many of the Democratic organizations who are willing to support illegal aliens flooding the country. Democrats for the voters and the Catholics for potential new church members.

I’m a Catholic and I find the actions of the church despicable. The people doing this should be locked up. I’m sure they’re breaking all sorts of laws (not that it matters under Democrat administration). I’m also certain that this is barely the tip of the iceberg, and that it’s going on all across the country and has been for decades.

The American Conference of Catholic Bishops is somewhat to the left of Karl Marx

Can someone finally tell the world that there’s nothing Catholic about the Charity and how they use that word to connive the people into thinking it is?

Demanding the immediate release of documentation about its migrant clients, which it has refused to do.

So that's how it works? Paxton is the state AG why hasn't he raided their headquarters and recovered the documents already?
