Elon Musk has sparked a social media storm after expressing outrage over the state-mandated euthanisation of Peanut, a beloved pet squirrel and internet sensation.
In a string of fiery posts on his X account, the tech mogul criticised the decision, which saw New York state officials seize Peanut from his owner’s home before euthanising the animal.
Referring to the incident as a case of “government overreach,” Musk didn’t hold back, describing Peanut’s seizure as a "kidnapping" and his death as an "execution."
Musk’s indignation on the matter has quickly drawn attention from his followers and sparked passionate discussions online, with many questioning the government’s role in regulating personal pets. Some even went so far as to liken Peanut’s fate to that of John Wick’s dog, stirring Musk to draw an analogy to the iconic movie, where “John Wick just wanted peace, but then they killed his innocent, beloved dog.”
"Government overreach kidnapped an orphan squirrel and executed him," Musk wrote, also asserting that "Donald Trump would save the squirrels." He continued to post throughout the day, calling on authorities to "leave people and their animals alone."

As I posted on another thread: What they did to Peanut, The Squirrel, they’d giddily do to us IF they thought they could get away with it without getting their arses shot off. There’s a reason why the communist basstids throughout history always come for the guns first.....cowardism.

I’ve read on FR that the squirrel was alleged to have bit a person.

“There is no live animal test for rabies.
“The animal’s brain, specifically the entire section of the cerebellum, hippocampus, and brainstem are required to perform the DFA test.
“The brain must be relatively fresh and in good condition, as the test cannot be done reliably if the different regions of the brain are not discernable.”

They could have quarantined him. That is what they do at some shelters if there is no record of a rabies vac for dogs who have bitten. Personally, I would take a shot or two while awaiting the results of the quarantine before a pet is destroyed.
