The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday voted in support of eliminating a rule that allows renters to be evicted when landlords remodel their buildings.
Under the city’s “just cause” eviction rules, landlords can evict tenants only for specific reasons, one of which is to “substantially remodel” their properties....
The motion approved by the City Council asks for new rules that would let tenants keep paying rent and maintain their tenancy while remodels take place. Similar rules already exist for rent-controlled properties under the Tenant Habitability Program, which requires owners doing significant renovations to submit plans to protect tenants while they remain in their unit or are temporarily relocated to other housing.

No problem. Just work around the people as in the Money Pit.
Bad idea. The property owner should be permitted to pursue his goals and ambitions concerning his own property.
This will make slow to repair and update landlords even slower. They will turn a deaf ear to most tenent complaints, and simply wait until that complainer moves out or misses too many payments.
L.A. moves to prohibit landlords from evicting tenants. And won’t let stores close in high crime areas. And will confiscate the retirement pay of people leaving California.
It’s called Socialism.
AND the city will sue landlords to renovate apartments
Don’t “remodel”.
Just remove the front door...
Is temporary so the landlords can spend money remodel and the government will put the same skells back in to destroy it

Just don’t renew their leases and once everyone is out, go ahead and remodel, then have new tenants move in. Why is this so difficult? It’s called good long range planning. And if landlords want to break leases, they should pay the tenants the balance of their lease, just like tenants have to pay when they leave before their lease expires.
When the government starts telling We the People EVERYTHING THEY CAN AND CAN’T DO, WE DON’T HAVE A COUNTRY ANYMORE. WE LIVE ON A PLANTATION AND WE ARE THE SLAVES.
Illegals 1 Landlords 0
The idea is to make landlords give up and sell the properties to the big conglomerates, so they hold all the properties, easing the transition to the government takeover of all housing.
AND MAKE NEW CODE CHANGES THAT WILL REQUIRE MASSIVE CHANGES.
WILL THEN BECOME CHEAPER TO BURN IT ALL DOWN
What will be left is government housing and Blackrock.
Take your pick.
