ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Donald Trump is traveling to New Mexico and Virginia in the campaign’s final days, taking a risky detour from the seven battleground states to spend time in places where Republican presidential candidates have not won in decades.
The former president campaigned in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday and was scheduled to visit Salem, Virginia, on Saturday.
The Trump team is projecting optimism based in part on early voting numbers and thinks he can be competitive against Democrat Kamala Harris in both states — New Mexico in particular, if he sweeps swing states Nevada and Arizona. That hope comes even though neither New Mexico nor Virginia has been carried by a GOP nominee for the White House since George W. Bush in 2004.
Over the past few months in particular, the battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — have seen a constant stream of candidate visits, and residents have been bombarded with political ads on billboards, televisions and smartphones. In the past two weeks alone, presidential and vice presidential candidates have made 21 appearances in Pennsylvania, 17 in Michigan and 13 in North Carolina.

It’s not that big a risk. You can only campaign so many times in any given state.
Virginia is doable.
But the key is not just doing well in NoVa. Another major key is doing well in the suburbs around Richmond. Those used to be be pretty strong GOP areas.
The Tidewater.
Maybe he is tired of seeing Pennsylvania and the Upper Midwest.
Without Mich, Penn, and Wis., Trump is 2 elec votes short. Adding either one of these states (NM, VA) will wrap things up.
Click the following link and take a look at the schedule he's been keeping.
You can see the place, date and how long he spoke at each event.
Of course those are just the rallies. He's done a lot of other things besides those.
“It’s not that big a risk. You can only campaign so many times in any given state.”
exactly ... and what’s the risk? ... that if he had only done one more rally in Pennsylvania that would have guaranteed he’d win the state? ... i really don’t think so ... AP is full of shite as usual ...
Near zero risk..,
He’s in a very good position to win, he would like to have a Republican Congress and Senate. He’s working towards that.
Working toward House and Senate victories as well as maximize the “popular vote”. And perhaps an upset in VA.
Beating the steal is hard when the dims count on and on and last like they have always done and gotten by with in Virginia. Republican controlled vote counts need to be a surprised too or let it all be deadlined without the so called news picking winners, called my ass.
Great rally today in New Mexico. The mountains in the background were beautiful, something we don’t see often at a Trump rally. Crowd was humongous and energetic!
It’s not a “risk” ——it’s icing on the Trump “too big to rig” cake!
What a contrast! The energy he’s displaying compared to the exhaustion shown by Kamala. He will take the fight to her until the final hour.
He should bring the garbage truck with him.
both NM and Virginia are winnable states (IF the DNC rigged election machines are prevented from stealing them outright)
it is good that he’s campaigning, and campaigning so well, he shows that he takes the future of our country seriously to put out all this effort
The Trump Team ain’t stupid, they wouldn’t be doing this if their internal polls aren’t showing they have a genuine shot at those two states. Besides with days left in the campaign it’s no longer about spreading your message, voters have already decided if they support you or not. Now it’s all about just keeping the energy level up and motivating your supporters to get out to the polls.
“The mountains in the background were beautiful, something we don’t see often at a Trump rally.”
Normally you see ugly mountains in the background?
