Oakland, birthplace of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and the city where she launched her ill-fated presidential campaign in 2019, now resembles a post-apocalyptic nightmare, its streets piled high with trash, burned-out vehicles and homeless encampments.
Driving through its streets is a surreal and potentially dangerous experience. Many businesses have closed down and are boarded up. Those still operating are covered in graffiti, even on their windows, and many refuse to allow customers inside for fear of being robbed.
Critics of Ms Harris, who began her legal career as a prosecutor in Oakland, across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco, argue that the city is a stark example of the results of extreme Left-wing policies, some of which she embraced when she ran in the 2020 presidential race.
This time around, Ms Harris has distanced herself from movements such as “defund the police”, which she praised four years ago.
Former president Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has branded Ms Harris a “communist”, rejecting her claims that she was tough on crime as a prosecutor and as California’s attorney general.
Meanwhile, Oakland criminals are becoming more brazen by the day, emboldened by the knowledge that the average police response time after a 911 emergency call is 48 minutes. Their latest method of break-and-enter theft is “ram and rob”—smashing a car through a storefront before jumping out to loot.

Yup, For the most part they didn't bother "civilians" nor "smash and grab" and mainly tussled with other outlaw bikers. They pretty much wanted to be left alone to have their wild parties in the boondocks. Yes, they committed crimes, but nothing like we're seeing now. They're pretty much a legitimate enterprise now and rarely start fights unless the Mongols, Vagos, and other 1%ers want to make a name for themselves.
I once talked to Sonny Barger (past president) when I had long hair and riding, and he said he's glad things have mellowed out. I read he died in 2022. Wonder who owns his motorcycle repair shop in Cave Creek, AZ.

My brother owned a motorcycle apparel shop in Bakersfield, Ca. They’d come in once in awhile and they always had a booth at all the vendor things. They were always nice and polite to me. They even invited me to see their new ‘clubhouse’. They had a small shop in there where they sold things. They were perfect gentlemen to me.

A controversial former Roman Catholic archbishop who was excommunicated earlier this year has told American Catholics there is “no question” they have to vote for former President Donald Trump — because Vice President Kamala Harris is “an infernal monster who obeys Satan.”
Carlo Maria Vigano, who served as the Vatican’s ambassador to the US from 2011 until 2016, penned a fiery open letter to American Catholics in which he said this November they must “choose between two radically opposed ways of conceiving the government of your Nation.”
“The choice is between a conservative President, who is paying with his very life for his fight against the deep state, and an infernal monster who obeys Satan,”
“For a Catholic, there can be no question: voting for Kamala Harris is morally inadmissible and constitutes a very grave sin. Nor is it morally possible to abstain, because in this war declaring oneself neutral means allying oneself with the enemy,” he said.
He continued that voting for Trump “means firmly distancing ourselves from an anti-Catholic, anti-Christian and anti-human vision of society. It means stopping those who want to create a hellish dystopia that is even worse than the one announced by George Orwell.”
Vigano was excommunicated from the Catholic Church in July for his outspoken criticism of Pope Francis and modern church reforms made at the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s.
His letter contains references to the “deep state,” calling the 2020 presidential election “the fraud of 2020” and suggesting that the world governments engineered climate change to “to make the global warming fraud credible.”
The former Archbishop of Ulpiana also touched on hot cultural issues in the United States like “woke” ideology and sexually explicit material being taught in public schools, which he called “dens of indoctrination and corruption from kindergarten onwards.”
