Watch Crew-8 return to Earth, concluding their mission to the International Space Station. Their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft is scheduled for splashdown off the coast of Florida on Friday, Oct. 25 at approximately 3:29 a.m. EDT (0729 UTC).
NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominick, and Jeanette Epps and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin are coming home after seven months aboard the orbiting lab, conducting scientific experiments and technology demonstrations.
Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who launched to the station aboard NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test (CFT) this summer, will return to Earth with the two members of NASA's SpaceX Crew-9 mission in the spring of 2025.NASA's SpaceX Crew-8 Re-entry and Splashdown | 1:04:30 / 2:08:45

I didn't set the time index, but I started this at 1:04:30 to minimize the nothing-going-on part of the viewing.
While this was going on, you know, SpaceX saving astronauts lives, the leftist media was out there stating the “Musk has been in contact with Putin since 2022!”
But leaving out the part because Putin is demanding he dismantle Starlink for Taiwan.
BTTT
What chaps my rear is why they have to do re-entry in the dark. They’ve been doing manned launches in the dark, too. And in the wee hours of the morning.
ORBIT POSITIONS, I WOULD GUESS..
You’re probably right, I guess I’ve been spoiled by all the daytime launches over the years.
How about a nighttime Starship launch? I’ll bet that would be spectacular!
I am curious of why all 4 were taken to a medical facility for further evaluation. Not standard procedure.
Just saw they were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola which is an excellent hospital. Hope is it is just being over cautious.
I suspect it had to do with the duration of the mission. The reentry and splashdown went great.

Crew-8 Mission Duration
According to the search results, the Crew-8 mission duration was 235 days, 3 hours, and 36 minutes. This is also noted as the longest Dragon mission, with the spacecraft, Endeavour, spending 701 days in orbit, setting a record for a human-rated capsule.

9 hours ago - Crew-8 was originally planned to return to Earth in early August after a nominal 180-day mission, but the mission was extended several times. It was extended initially as NASA investigated the CFT situation, and extended again to provide the lifeboat function.
It probably has to do with the giant trail of debris from the Chinese rocket malfunction. That's been a factor in the launch schedules as well. The CCP, not surprisingly, is a major menace to space exploration.
They’ve been in space for a very long time which has a negative effect on the body. They can’t even walk.
The lady astronaut had some health issues I can’t remember what it was, but she definitely needed to come home.
They all myst be just thrilled to be home and tto see their loved ones. I’m happy for them as well as relieved that they weren’t lost in space!!
Agreed—time in space is very tough on the body—and they are still learning more about it.
Caution is definitely appropriate.
It reminds me of the movie Gravity
That has to be Jeanette Epps. What health problems are you referring to?
Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub just came back from a 370 day tour. So far, no negative reports on health issues.
“I am curious of why all 4 were taken to a medical facility for further evaluation. Not standard procedure.
Standard procedure.
“Not standard procedure.”
That’s happened every single time since the ‘60s. The exact definition of “standard procedure”.
