Now those EVs can be charged to drive owners to the lines to get rutabaga, potatoes and bags of groats.

Background.... (Notice we can blame someone name “Trump” for the fall of the glorious people’s revolution in carrying forward Marxism-Leninism as a beacon for the world, as I would put it.)

From several sources:
Food shortages are still common in Cuba.

The Cuban economy was negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as by additional sanctions from the United States imposed by the Trump administration. In 2020, the country’s economy declined by 11%, the country’s worst decline in nearly 30 years. Cubans have faced shortages of basic goods as a result.

Cuba has also assumed the top-ranking spots in the world’s poverty surveys. In 2023, the firm DatoWorld revealed that Cuba was the poorest country in Latin America, ahead of Venezuela and Honduras. In 2022, the island was given the “inglorious title of 2021′s most-miserable country” by the annual Hanke’s Misery Index.

“Cuba was the poorest country in Latin America, ahead of Venezuela and Honduras.”

Don’t they mean behind, not ahead of?

One Fifth. Reminds me of a joke. Wherever you find four Catholic Priests gathered together in one place, you are sure to find a Fifth. Oops...

In retail it’s the 20/80 rule, 20% of your stuff brings in 80% of your money, so in Cuba the 20/80 rule is you need 20% of your people and let the other 80% go to he((.

“Cuba’s top electricity official, Lazaro Guerra, said the GRID OPERATOR was working to restore electricity but that the process would be slow and rushing the job could lead to more blackouts and a deterioration of service.”

Story has a singular grid operator - maybe he’s the only one with any knowledge of the grid...

Ain’t Communism wonderful🥸

Don’t forget, Cuba offers free education & their health care system is envied across the globe.

I’m sure the peasants are happy with their rice cookers.
