TUCSON, Ariz. — Former President Barack Obama on Friday contrasted former President Donald Trump’s character with that of the late Sen. John McCain during a packed rally at the University of Arizona.
Obama, who faced off against McCain in his successful bid for the White House in 2008, offered only kind words for his onetime political foe during his Friday remarks on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign.
“Being here in Tucson, I’m thinking about my friend John McCain,” said Obama, speaking to several thousand Arizonans.
“I don’t want to overromanticize our relationship,” Obama continued, earning laughter from the crowd. “But you know what? He understood that some values transcend party. He believed in honest argument and hearing the views of other people. He didn’t demonize his political opponents.”

McCain and Obama? Snort.
McCain and Romney were wonderful designated losers by the Republican Party.
McCain and Romney LOST to BO for a price. They can rot in hell.
“He didn’t demonize his political opponents.”
Well, yeah, he did all the time, just like the Clean Magic Negro does all the time.
Exactly.
I bet he pronounced it TUK-sun.
*spit*
Well said.
“speaking to several thousand Arizonans.” Hogwash. Show us the pictures.
I’d say it’s more like 400, at most. And all lefties.
There was no reason for him to stop his campaign. He could have gone to D.C. in the morning, make a speech on the financial crisis, vote on the bill if necessary and then campaign at night.
Exactly . Where are the pictures ?
Donald Trump is on the ballot
While he and his ilk demonize Trump.
Where is a glioblastoma when you need one?
John McCain don’t need a Kenyan boy to exploit him against the GOP. FU Barry, you pig.
I doubt McCain was your friend, azho.
But if you recall, the Democrats voted down the first rescue bill, so it made no sense on two levels. Obama was a sitting Senator, but he felt he could stay out on the trail and take no heat for it. McCain’s advisors convinced him to take the magnanimous “even though it hurts my campaign I will demonstrate leadership and shepherd this rescue bill through Congress”. Except he didn’t. Something was ultimately passed, but by that time the image of McCain being ineffective in driving legislation was cemented. McCain was toast on 9/15/2008 when he gave the “The fundamentals of the American economy are strong,,,” speech. While he was delivering that gem, he was in split screen with a plot of the Dow doing a swan dive, in real time. No wonder Obama look back on him with fondness. Classic GOP loser.
