A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday after he was captured on surveillance video beating up an OB-GYN doctor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, authorities said.
According to authorities, Ventura Del Castillo Perez’s mother was a patient of Dr. Steven Silvers, and he was apparently upset because of the medication Silvers prescribed his mother.
According to his arrest report, when police arrived to the hospital Monday morning, they located Del Castillo Perez, who was crying and struggling to catch his breath.
“Defendant stated he was upset about what Doctor Silvers had prescribed his mother and wanted to advise him that he was committing malpractice and also wanted to show him his bad Yelp reviews,” the arrest report stated. “The defendant advised that he then went to the elevator to leave, and Dr. Silvers followed. The defendant stated that Dr. Silvers had his foot on the elevator door and attempted to grab his phone. The defendant stated that he then picked up the doctor and body slammed him in self-defense.”
According to the report, Silvers, who was rendered unconscious during the attack, told police that he did not remember what occurred and doesn’t even remember arriving to work. He said the last thing he recalled was someone speaking to him about his Yelp reviews.
Police said they also interviewed another medical care provider at the hospital, who said she arrived at the hospital with Silvers and saw Del Castillo Perez approach him on the fourth floor.

Why no photos of Del Castillo Perez? Is he a border jumper on drugs?
Isn’t youth grand?
Best time of your life, health, vision, hearing, appetite, sex drive, energy level.
And the most awful behavior period of a persons like, little healthy monsters running around. Murder, rape, assault, theft..all higher in that age period.
I remember about 3 years ago we went canoeing and yes I probably overweighted the canoe with me , wife and 2 grandkids. So we ended up getting swamped. Food, clothes in the water etc. it was not that dangerous, about 3 feet deep. But here is the thing. 3-4 canoes full of healthy, strong college kids came by. Watched with interest , some even laughed. Not ONE offered to help. The next canoe was a couple of 40 year olds and their kids. They immediately got out and started helping.
As the bronzed, fit college kids went around the bend talking about how funny it was to see 2 grandparents to and their grandkids struggling in the water.
The defendant is an immature thug who needs to pay for breaking the doctor’s ribs and giving him a brain contusion, when a conversation would have sufficed, but it would be interesting to know what medication change caused the son to become this upset.
kid sounds like a mama’s boy. why is she discussing her ob/gym visit with h er son?
That’s idiotic.
Exactly
“Little healthy monsters” is an apt description for many in that group, especially when they are with their peers. It’s not something new, though. This is state of physical Readiness is why youths make the best soldiers, They are in the best shape they will probably be for their whole lives.
Most don’t realize it then, I didn’t really, not until 25 years later. Lucky for you, another group of adults, came by ready to show a little empathy and compassion. They had their own sort of peer group with them.
Yes MOST grow out of it thankfully.
who,what,where,when,why?
what drugs? why was he upset about it?
“ kid sounds like a mama’s”
I my mind goes to the perp wants his mothers meds for himself to use or cell
“ who,what,where,when,why?
what drugs? why was he upset about it?”
It took 10 posts for someone to look at this like the propaganda piece it is
These confrontations usually come down to drug seeking. The family member becomes enraged because the Doctor is appropriately limiting the dosage and number of pills to what is reasonably necessary, and others want a more liberal supply for abuse.
Yup. I don’t know enough about the medical situation, although generally don’t condone going around and assaulting people. Further maybe he could convince his mom simply to not take whatever was prescribed.
FWIW, this doc’s Yelp reviews average 3.0 of a possible 5.
In my life I’ve known of some great doctors, some good doctors, some mediocre doctors, and at least a couple of terrible doctors.
I hope I’m wrong, but this reads as if the media is on the side of this doctor.
I’d like to know more details of the young man’s side of the story.
Read on, there are plenty of photos.
I certainly hope all of you were wearing life jackets. We don’t even allow kids on our dock without life jackets.
maybe so.... I also would, as a doctor, take umbrage at a 19 yr old wanting to discuss my “malpractice” GTHO.
The Doctor probably wouldn’t prescribe adequate pain control for his mother. I don’t blame him either if that was the case.

People here believe the press accounts of these stories way too much in my humble opinion
