8 dead in airstrike that hit church in Lebanon

At least eight people have died after a missile struck a church in Lebanon.

Local Christian sources told Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that the church had been sheltering people displaced by Israeli airstrikes at the time of the strike.

The airstrikes caused the collapse of the church and two adjoining halls that were being used to house refugees.

A priest's house and a three-story building housing parish offices were also destroyed in the attack, which is located in the Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Tyre.

Christians in Lebanon have been sheltering refugees since Israel began its offensive against Hezbollah three weeks ago.

Maronite Archbishop Hanna Rahmé of Baalbek-Deir El-Ahmar, in the Beqaa Valley, told ACN that Christian families in his archdiocese have welcomed both Christian and Muslim refugees into their homes, and that Muslims fleeing the bombardments "are enormously touched by this Christian solidarity."

"Each of the Christian families in the villages around Deir El-Ahmar has welcomed three or four displaced families, that is, between 30 and 60 people," he said.

"We are choked by the number of internally displaced people, but we can't leave them to their fate — we are not Christians just for ourselves, but for everyone."

The archdiocese has had to step up to support families hosting refugees because the NGOs are focused on assisting displaced people sheltering in schools, the archbishop said.

He described the situation as "critical" and said the need for food, mattresses and blankets was most urgent.

ACN said it has been providing practical support for emergency projects in Lebanon in response to the escalating conflict.

Rahmé added, "Please stay at our side. If we carry this together, we will be able to do great things."

If they hadn’t sheltered Hezbollah, they would not have been bombed.

Here's an article from July 24. The number of Christian targets have only increased since then.

What We Wish Donald Trump Would Say to Prime Minister Netanyahu.

I actually have a list here of civilian Christian sites, not Hamas hiding holes, that have been destroyed since Israel began its response to the Oct. 7 massacre...

On Oct. 17, the Anglican Al-Ahli Hospital was blown apart by Israeli missile fire, killing hundreds of civilians.

Two days later, an Israeli airstrike hit St. Porphyrius Church, killing 18 Christians and wounding dozens more.

On Dec. 16, Israeli forces targeted the compound of Holy Family Parish; a sniper killed two women after they walked outside and wounded several men who tried helping them. That same day, Mother Teresa’s order, the Missionaries of Charity, saw its convent struck three times by Israeli artillery shells, leaving it uninhabitable.

Ten days later, Gaza’s only Baptist church was destroyed by Israeli tank shells.

A Byzantine Church in Jabalia (northern Gaza) was destroyed by the IDF.

The Green Shrine in Deir Al-Balah, the first Christian monastery built in Palestine during the Byzantine era, was partially damaged.

Rev. Mitri Raheb, who founded Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, says that all Christian institutions in Gaza have been severely damaged or destroyed.

Is the Israeli Air Force shooting air-to-ground missiles?

I thought Israel used only precision smart bombs in Lebanon?

On the other hand, Hezbollah has fired thousands of missiles at Israel and at Israel military air and naval craft.

Was the church hit by an errant Hezbollah missile?

Also, dozens of Hezbollah missiles fly off in every direction when Israel bombs a Hezbollah missile supply dump.

Maybe it’s just me, but I have a suspicion formed by experience that there is more to this story — something the publisher does not want us to know.

I find that interesting as in Syria the Muslims helped protect and rebuild Churches destroyed by the axis of genocide.

That would not include the US, UK, Israel backed rebels, and their cohorts in places like Idlib, or near the U S terrorist training camp in Al Tanf, or the Kurdish areas.

Syria is run by Alawites a minority sect of Shia and they are closer to Hussain in Iraq in following sharia rules on allowing other religions rights
