North Korea is likely to deploy members of its regular armed forces to Ukraine in support of Russia, South Korea's defense chief said Tuesday, in the latest sign of deepening military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
The assessment came as North Korea has been seeking to bolster ties with Russia, highlighted by a bilateral agreement that includes a mutual defense clause, signed by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin at summit talks in June.
"As Russia and North Korea have signed a mutual treaty akin to a military alliance, the possibility of such a deployment is highly likely," Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun told lawmakers during a parliamentary audit session.
Against this backdrop, Kim said a recent report on North Korean troop casualties in a Russian-occupied territory near the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk is also likely to be true.

Article 4 provides the same commitment that Article 5 of the NATO Charter does.
BTW, the NORKS have a standing army of one million well trained, very well armed soldiers who could be on the Donbas line within a week.
I can remember when we were bringing NK and SK to the table and had them talking. What a difference a bunch of bogus scandals can make.
Perhaps, but I am confused. For 2 1/2 years I have heard from the usuals that Russia has all the resources, manpower, equipment, production…. they need and in fact putin is holding back most of his military might.
Now I hear Russia gets 50% of its ammunition from NK, now it is getting soldiers, golf carts and motorcycles… from China and Kursk wasn’t liberated by dear leader’s birthday
Trump had Little Rocket Man ready to jump through hoops thinking he was going to get a Trump Tower on some God forsaken NORK beach.
The NORKS would be a non factor today had not the election been stolen in ‘20.
The NORKS will never allow their troops to to be sent to Ukraine. Doing so would instantly shred the propaganda that NK is the happiest place on Earth. Being sent to a war zone would be a vacation for them.

If they send troops, many would defect at the first opportunity. Ergo, I doubt that more than a token number would be sent.
North Korean troops are probably delighted to go. They’ll get three square meals every day.
Probably be sending their political prisoners.
I’m not sure where you’re getting that 50% of its ammo from the NORKS silliness. 155 mm ammo and replacement tubes have been supplied but little more for now.
The reason Putin has not committed his 300,000 reserves is because he is saving them for when NATO ground forces start attacking the Russian military. This is when you’ll see the NORK storm trooper cannon fodder in a massive way.
What about those Chinese PLA mercs???
If NATO actually invades Russia it’s also China’s red line.
“The NORKS will never allow their troops to to be sent to Ukraine. Doing so would instantly shred the propaganda that NK is the happiest place on Earth. Being sent to a war zone would be a vacation for them.”
That’s pretty silly. The NORK troops will go wherever they are ordered to go. This is not a subject to attempt to crack wise about.
Hardly. I’ve known many men who fought against NORK infantry. Don’t sell the NORK army short. It’s hard to defect when you get a bullet in your back attempting to do so.
LRM would not send troops unless he was rewarded. All the upgrades to the NORK nuclear capability that are occurring currently is his price. Whatever Vlad wants, he’ll get as long as LRM’s ability to nuke America continues to improve.
Starving malnourished poorly trained North Korean troops using inferior North Korean weapons,
What could go wrong ?
“ The NORK troops will go wherever they are ordered to go.”
Yeah, Skippy. That’s kind of the point. They’ll never be ordered to go. The NORK regime will never actually do it. Russian combat rations are 5 star gourmet meals compared to what they’re eating now. The troops would desert before lunchtime.
And you’re just about the last guy in the world to be using the word “smart” in any context.
You’re not.

Can you post a link for your source? Thanks in advance.
Where did they fight? So far as I know, North Korean infantry have not been deployed outside the Korean Peninsula since 1950.
At the very least, they'll have access to higher quality tree bark, which is nice.
Could be a dick like others here and say “I am not your researcher” or others who claim we shouldn’t post links because it makes others money or my favorite “i do plenty of research and you should take my word for it….”
Here is one, another is from Kiev independent and I realize I would just get a “hoho propaganda” on that one
