More than 1,000 active-duty soldiers deployed to the southeast to help thousands of National Guard troops as the death toll from the storm rises.
More than 1,000 active-duty soldiers with the 101st and 82nd airborne divisions are on the ground and in the skies above North Carolina, working to help local National Guard units and emergency responders aid communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.
As of the weekend, more than 7,000 service members from the United States Army and the National Guard are active across the southeast. The National Guard units from 16 states were joined by active-duty soldiers mobilized by the XVIII Airborne Corps, with the express mission of “reaching the hardest hit areas as quickly as possible,” the Department of Defense said.
Roughly 500 soldiers with the 20th Engineer Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division left Fort Liberty on Oct. 3 for Asheville, the largest city in western North Carolina and part of Buncombe County, one of the most damaged parts of the country by Helene. They are conducting inspections of the roads in the region, as well as clearing debris and transporting supplies. Several aircraft were deployed with them for the mission.

Is the Party feeling the heat?
The governors sent troops regardless of the CinC in DC. The members of the Regime felt it was better not to interfere or to try to stop the deployments.
In the video at that link it was reported the Greene County Mayor appealed to the US Military but initially got denied. Some Commander got it accomplished.
EO 13912, from March of 2020, Trump put in place an order to "National Emergency Authority To Order the Selected Reserve and Certain Members of the Individual Ready Reserve of the Armed Forces to Active Duty".
This EO was extended by Joey:
I'll suggest that this is the executive authorization that the articles kinda dance around. Much about what lower tiers of authority say, do, request.... but not confirming what's at the top.
So where are they?
One source. I will wait and believe it when people start noticing that they are there.
The area has mostly switched out of the rescue phase which is what Kamala wanted. Lots of dead Trump voters up in the mountains.
That makes sense. Clean up time...
> Or... Is this martial law being implemented?
There were/are well armed people telling FEMA “no I’m not giving you my stuff and you aren’t telling me what to do and where to go”.
“ Almost a week after the catastrophic flooding.
NC needs a governor and the US needs a President.”

Truth be told, they’re both LAME DUCK democRATS. They simply don’t care enough to be bothered.
Good, they have no moral right to do this.
OR... FEMA got word back they were facing significant resistance to their control and need assistance maintaining order.
it wouldn’t surprise me if the next thing we hear would be truckers and anyone trying to bring supplies or labor to help are being offloaded and turned around / denied entrance by US military forces thereby shutting down civilian aid.
The 82nd Aviation Brigade alone is sending 38 Uh-60, 12 HH-60 (MEDEVAC), and 12 CH-47 heavy lift helicopters.
This doesn’t include what the 101st is sending.
As far as the engineers, the 20th Engineer Brigade isnt all based at Ft Bragg. They’re spread across six or seven bases. That 500 is pretty much everyone at Bragg who can operate heavy machinery.
It is not like they cannot tell when a hurricane is coming.
There are well over one million people in the Appalachian disaster area. The confirmed death toll is already larger than that of Katrina and will continue to rise if adequate search efforts are conducted.
Much worse is that many survivors are physically cutoff from access to help and without food, water, or shelter. The death toll for that population rises with every passing day and will likely exceed the number of people directly killed by the storm.
Deploying a mere 1,000 troops after more than a week is a studied insult to the survivors.
All of this is intentional.
Agree ... completely.
“Seems like it is taking awhile. These units are supposed to be able to “fight tonight.””
You have no knowledge of how the 82nd or 101st deploys.
For the 82nd, the requirement is to have at minimum a company of troops wheels up in 18 hours or less. And this ONLY applies to the Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs).
The 101st will take longer to deploy due to their composition.
Unfortunately, they’re probably being sent in to enforce FEMA’s edicts.
General Flynn said earlier today they need 7-10 K active duty troops.

“ Morrison said the aid finally was approved thanks to a former Greene County native, who now commands a unit within the 101st Airborne Division.”
