Shoppers are ‘panic buying’ items, including toilet paper, after 45,000 East Coast port workers launched a strike on Tuesday.
A woman named Shayna Turbovsky in Fort Worth, Texas, went to the store to get meat, rice, beans, bananas, and toilet paper when a coworker warned her about shortages and rising prices, USA Today reported on Wednesday.
“I don’t know how bad it’s going to get, but the south east just got smacked by a hurricane and now the supply chain is going to be impacted through this strike…I would rather be overprepared than scared,” she said in a social media post.
Shelves are being emptied in stores across the nation and people are waiting in long lines to buy the items, News Nation reported on Thursday:

I was at the Trader Joe’s here in the Inland Northwest this morning, didn’t notice any panic.
I don’t give a crap about this East Coast news. Don’t tell them TP is made in the USA!
We will be fine in Florida, our Southern Governor actually looks after people. I believe that Desantis and his National Guard buddies are making a Florida ports inspection as we speak.
I’m stocking up on ammo. You know, for the hurricanes. In Idaho.
Except from what I understand, it’s not a worldwide pandemic, it’s just one single union boss that apparently has enough power to shut down the entire eastern seaboards import export industry. Isn’t that interesting?
And the crux of the ax they’re grinding is that they don’t want the industry to modernize. That’s the level of stupid We’re at right now.

I know. I just got back from Costco (Columbia, Maryland store) and there is zero toilet paper, paper towels or Kleenex on the shelves. That’s a complete mystery to me. I’m not aware of any high end toilet paper imported from Germany.
Now it could start being a problem if shipments start getting rerouted. Those costs won't help with inflation.
I heard alcohol is affected. I’m sure some are stocking up for a few months.
Selfish uneducated.
“ I’m gonna git mine! Call Aunt Bee, make sure she buys extra TP. When I got to the store only 6 Jumbo 24 packs were left. I bought them all. Ain’t I lucky. “
Trending. FReepers stocking up on beer and liquor, Cheetos and Fritos.
Maybe they stock it at Aldis stores?
They say Muslims use their bare hands. See? They were ahead of us infidels all along.
((Barf alert))
Quote.
After defecating, the anus must be washed with water using the left hand, or an odd number of smooth stones or pebbles called jamrah or hijaarah.

Bidets are not expensive
And finally, we have the political class to thank for all of this b.s. Making it easy for companies to uproot and relocate to 3rd world sh*tholes so that we have to import all the stuff we use to make. /rant off (for now)
I live in Little Rock, AR and was at the grocery store yesterday and already even here there is limit on paper products.
Time to get the wash rags out again I guess.
I fear my Guinness Extra Stout will soon be non-existent.
Only 4 stores in my rural area even stock the stuff & even then it’s only a handful of 6 packs on the shelf.
I did buy enough to get me through this weekend.
WTF is a "port worker"?
Do they mean "longshoremen?"
There aren't any women who can physically do that job. So are they talking about fags, maybe?
Or is this just girl-reporter speak? (I don't know anything about "Amy Furr," and I don't think I want to. . .)
“ didn’t notice any panic.”
The only panic buying around here is the 1st and 15th, when the welfare cards get recharged. Parking lot is full like those EBT shoppers grocery baskets!!
