No.
This is made up cancel culture at its best. In the Western world, it is a symbol of death camps. If you’re not into western culture you should leave.
Doesn’t make sense. I don’t know what they’re mad about.
People make big things out of everything now.
Perhaps insensitive but technically correct. For a few thousand years before Hitler and his ilk screwed it up the swastika wa a symbol of good luck or prosperity. The word “swastika” itself is sanskrit.
CC
Correct, nonetheless.
The looneys are so afraid of it, even in its proper historical context, that art work on model kits of Luftwaffe planes have it removed. For example:
Real Stukas:
1:48 kit art with swastika removed.
Notice the tail does not have the swastika on it.
The difference in the Swastika and an Indian symbol is the direction of rotation.
That is True.
the NAZI one runs in a different direction than the ancient ones
What a crock! The nation is ruled by scared pansies.
We truly live in an idiocracy.
If they find the kid that did it, maybe he should be killed in the name of the beloved community since he clearly has no regard for it. [/s!]
My Lord!
The Swastika sits on its point and is a symbol of nazism.
In Asia the same design sits flat on a side. I have it on my great grandmother’s lamp.
Funny how the Red Sun Rising flag, Katanna sword and anything written in Japanese for tattoos are so cool to the same people who are triggered by anything close to Nazi Germany. I’m guessing that taught history no longer covers much of WWII and the atrocities of Germany’s most powerful ally.
The principal gave an acceptable answer at the beginning. Perhaps she confused some parents with her additional remarks, given with intent to be open minded. Whoever has voted to suspend her, is making an impulsive, rather stupid mistake. I would start looking a different school district to work for.
Well here we go. Some idiot is going to take screen shots of all the swastikas in this thread and go post them on all the left wing boards as “evidence” That FR is a Nazi enclave.
The runes and other symbols of the Third Reich were borrowed from more ancient cultures.
Most sentient kids can understand this.
People need to stop kneejerk reacting and start thinking.
The only lesson these kids learned from this was to be afraid, don't ask questions, don't explore history, and condemn anyone who deviates from the party line.
These are NOT good lessons for Americans to be learning.
This is misdirected outrage based on ignorance. The Buddhist and Hindi version which means peace and prosperity is oriented differently from the Nazi version.
At the Apache village/museum called Tuzigoot in Arizona,I saw bowls decorated with swastikas. It is the broken arrow sign of peace. Also I have seen old Buddha incense burners decorated with swastikas too. This teacher was absolutely correct. Why is she being punished!?
She did not say anything that was not true. She should have also mentioned it is also appears in Native American designs.
Her wording may have been awkward but to assume it was with ill intent is unfair and far too typical.
