One of the original and stated purposes of the Internal Revenue Act and progressive income taxes was to “limit the concentration of wealth in a single family or group.” The reasoning at the time, following closely on the perceived excesses of The Guilded Age, was that excessive wealth would be used to capture and/or pervert our institutions of government.

They certainly weren’t wrong.

Bold talk coming from the regime that manufactured the greatest regressive tax in history in the form of inflation.

God runs the whole Universe on 10% of our increase not our income. No increase, no pay.

If the government ran that way I think the economy would be much better.

Replace “the rich” with “bourgeoise” and she will sound like her Marxist Dad.

Walt Williams RIP suggested that fair share would be a pool tax.
Everybody (each and every adult citizen) paying the same amount of money as tax.

Are they sure? Harris says the top earners don’t pay as much as poor folks. (She wouldn’t lie, would she? Eye roll)

Can’t Tax Rich.Dems know this.
Tax Code.
Until Dems support flat & or sales tax,it remains a way to simultaneously promise raising taxes while buying votes with programs & tax code breaks.

Every program is paid for by those taking a weekly paycheck- the Middle class.

This nation is absurdly 35 trillion in debt. How dare these DC legalized incompetent grifters raiding the National Treasury lecture on paying ‘fair share’.

That’s about a year’s salary for a working stiff with a basic undergrad degree

She makes a govt salary for a vp. It’s like $350 k. What does her husband do?

Are they on the high income hate list??Who knows. Whatever they jointly make
They’re not paying the taxes she’s yammering about

Does she mention Trump forfeited his salary for the four years as prez!?

She’s using the old democrat stand by propaganda scam wonder how many of them never claim how much money they have.

Gold bars in shoes must be tax deductible as sole stiffeners.

Make the Rich pay is an old Democrat trope. FDR used it—They believe all Americans hate the rich. In truth when they say that you know taxes will be raised on ALL—with the poor getting it worse.

That’s rich coming from the party that’s dedicated to destroying the middle class and enriching the wealthy lib-Dem donor class. Thankfully more voters than ever are catching on to their little game.

Routinely, articles of this type lump the upper middle class and lower upper class with the plutocrat class, talking about total taxes paid. It is a distortion worthy only of propaganda.

This isn't about the 1%; it's about the 0.001%. The biggest disparity resulting in reduced effective taxation rates for said exceptionally wealthy benefits those with tax-exempt "charitable" foundations in which they can hide many of their expenses. These "donations" thereby become vehicles for buying political influence to benefit their investments, a profit-making activity. I consider it equivalent to racketeering, fraud, and tax evasion.

Warren Buffet and Theresa Heinz come immediately to mind.
