My bother noticed this over the last several years in his corporate workplace, that Gen Z hires were clueless about work as applied effort in fulfillment of the needs and goals of the employer. Moreover, many Gen Z types struggled with basic communication and organization skills.
It's beyond them that they are responsible to give their employer 8 hours in exchange for a paycheck.
As for meeting clearly defined expectations, they are clueless. New hires at our place showed up in their ‘idiot casual’ style of dressing and behaved like the workplace was something they had a right to customize for themselves
My department had one that one of the first things he said was a comment about how unfair income inequality was. He also complained that it was unfair that he had to work 40 hours to get paid for 40 hours. He didn’t last long.
