Reminds me of the Soviet Union - about the WORST NEWS that a wife could hear from her government-employed husband was: “Honey, I got a promotion”, as Stalin had a habit of ‘purging’ those who got too powerful and could eventually pose a threat to him.

Most of the older “successors” are retiring when their turn comes up so they can go home and spend more time with their families.
