It’s closed at several places.
I just drove from PA to Chapel Hill today. Rough ride through VA, but the rest was ok. Chapel Hill was a mess earlier today, I hear.
I-40 is a major trucking route.
My Mother In Law turns 90 next week. She lives in Asheville, NC. A huge oak tree fell on her house collapsing much of the roof.
No repair crews can get to her house.

Like so many other American females, she was stupendously fat.
Yup. No power.
Fortunately, it’s your mother-in-law, so you don’t have to worry about it.
I noticed it’s also clogged with commuters and big rv’s, having found myself on it for the first time in about 35 years last year. My memory of it is that it was mostly just trucks back then.
I have always enjoyed visiting that part of the county. Prayers offered for the good folks there.
Sounds like one stupid and fragile highway system built by the diversity crowd.

Drove some of I-40 a dozen years ago...actually much of it is an engineering marvel.
