US Navy warships fought off a 'complex' missile and drone attack in the Red Sea

US Navy warships shot down a barrage of Houthi missiles and drones in the Red Sea on Friday in what a Pentagon spokesperson described as a "complex attack."

Sabrina Singh, the deputy Pentagon spokesperson, said no US warships were damaged or struck by the Houthi munitions, and there were no injuries to American personnel.

"We did see a complex attack launched from the Houthis that ranged from cruise missiles and [drones]," Singh told reporters at a briefing. "My understanding is that those were either engaged and shot down or failed."

The Houthis said earlier that they targeted three Navy warships with nearly two dozen ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. The Iran-backed rebels claimed to score direct hits on the vessels, although US officials pushed back on this and there's no credible evidence to support it.

I’m pretty impressed since they are all almost out of fuel, due to their only refueling ship run aground.

What happens when they are empty?

Our Navy is picking up a huge amount of experience from this and it is the sharp prod to accelerate work on defenses for these sorts of attack.

Just enough to motivate and learn from but thankfully not in a do or die war.

Something must have gone badly...
Their use of the word “complex” is the beginning of excuses for government failure, normally...

“US Navy warships fought off a ‘complex’ missile and drone attack in the Red Sea”

that’s great ... did they then use the resulting targeting information to destroy the launch sites, the launch personnel, and the missile storage sites? ... if not, why not?

This is an act of war. How can the Houthis continue to attack shipping with impunity?

Weakness invites more attacks.

Putin Fanbois alert.

Go on. Enlighten us about just when Putin, The Savior of Western Civilization™, to Putin Fanbois, will begin carrying out that mission by aiding Islamists in shutting down the Suez Canal, through which passes, err passed until recently, a large portion of the trade upon Western Civilization depends.

More interestingly, you might explain why the Houthis, who have kept the vast majority of non-Chinese cargos from transiting Suez, would want to take advice from the gang that can't even keep Ukrainian grain from transiting the Black Sea.

In case you missed it, these attacks are intended to sink our ships and kill our sailors. Why are they being put in harm’s way? What are we doing to eliminate the attackers?

For the sailors on these ships, it is a do or die war. It is not a training exercise or motivational experience. Have you ever been shot at?

Evidently the mission is about preserving some semblance of shipping order there, and the Navy is learning tons while on this mission, so are the weapon manufacturers, and as I said “but thankfully not in a do or die war.” let us patriotic Americans pray that we learn what we need to before the Russian missiles get there and before we have to fight them and/or China.

You just don’t get it. If it was your ass on the line, you wouldn’t be so cavalier about these attacks, which are an act of war. We are playing Russian roulette with the lives of our sailors. As a former naval officer and Vietnam veteran, I find your attitude detestable.

You don’t get anything, you post in a constant never ending hysterics about everything, a constant ranting panicking, hysteria month after month and year after year, you live in a never ending hysterical world of panic and fear and adoration for Russian might and American doom.
