Unbelievable! Go underwater, put your financial future at risk, in order to fund the local government’s largess and inefficiencies. I would hope this message would finally wake people up to the callousness of overbearing bureaucracy.
We can’t cut, you must pay more. Ridiculous. Obscene.

I’m going to keep saying it for as long as it takes, or until I move on to a realm where I’m confident there will be zero leftists in attendance: We cannot coexist with people like this. Just as with the terminator, they will not ever stop until they are destroyed, and yes, I mean literally. This nation’s founders warned us repeatedly about this, yet even most patriotic Americans today act like the Revolutionary War and their warnings afterward of exactly what would be required to fend off further episodes of tyranny in the future (their future, our present) was some quaint notion of the past. Fundamental principles of life, such as the absolute necessity and obligation to periodically fight tyrants, physically, not metaphorically, to maintain our liberty, are eternal and unavoidable. So many people, including conservatives, act like we are owed our rights and freedoms, yet that is a dangerous illusion. We don’t live in some magical time where we get to skip all of the hard decisions and actions that those who preceded us had to make.
Evil never stops. Whether it prevails or not depends upon what WE do in response.

Do not do that reverse mortgage thing. My dad and his thrid wife did this becasue she wanted the extra income 18 years ago. The problem is for the homeowner, not the bank, that as long as you occupy the property you are responsible for the upkeep. Sure you can stay forever if you can afford the upkeep. So they give you $500 a month today and twenty years from now that is like getting a $100 a month then. Reverse Mortgages are the biggest scam. If I were younger this is something I think about doing on personal level, e.g., finding someone and giving them a reverse mortgage and me be the bank;)

This is why the lefty pols in California are desperately trying to overturn California’s 1978 Prop 13 which “limits the rate of taxation to 1% of the assessed property value, and restricts annual increases of assessed value to an inflation factor, not to exceed 2% per year.”
