anyone else have a gaping, bleeding wound in their back?
D+45.
The people want a government. The GOP cannot provide it.
They are finished.
The voting measure is great but there is zero possibility it can become Law with Biden in the White House.
Sign the bill. We have an election to worry about.
The whole thing is fully choreographed. No suspense at all.
“But most Republicans are wary of the political fallout of failure just weeks before Election Day.”
No. The GOPe fallout is decade after decade, year after year, day after day, minute after minute.
So a CR and nothing more?
Sounds ok to me. Let’s focus on the election and get more MAGA in the congress to pass a real budget.
The majority of the American people don’t hate the Government.
The majority of the American people don’t want to shut down the Government.
This nonsense plays out year after year and a few folks get to beat their chests and yell ‘shut it down’, and then nothing happens.
Johnson is weak. He’s also a RINO.
Caving and curling into a fetal ball is a plan, I guess.
And we always lose on these.
If THEY provide a crappy bill and we veto it and the gubmint gets shut down they run to the MSM and cry that we’re shutting down the government to hurt old people.
If WE provide a bill and the dems refuse to pass it and the government shuts down, they run to the MSM and cry about how we’re shutting down the government to hurt old people.
MTG was right, they have ousted this traitor POS
We really need to get rid of this guy. He’s no better than McCarthy.
The Congressional Republics constantly fail to give their voters what they want but magically are always able to reach across the aisle and deliver for their donors. More spending, more work visas, and higher taxes for their voters, but they will secure the border... of Ukraine.
Lawmakers will continue to draw a paycheck even if they haven't reached a deal to fund the government. The reason is because of how their pay is treated under the Constitution and federal law. Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution states: "The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States." This means they must get paid whether or not other parts of the government are funded.
Lawmakers' pay has been funded by a permanent appropriation since 1983, according to a recent Congressional Research Service report, meaning funding for their pay doesn't need to be renewed annually.
