I don’t know why $5.05 is better for the cashier than $4.05. Maybe the cash drawer has plenty of fives in it, but it might have a lot of ones right then. You never know.

I’ve gotten the $4.25 back before.
I tried to convince them they erred, but they refused to take the 2 dimes back.
Oh well - put them in my pocket and left with my order.
