Secret Service agents didn’t sweep the outskirts of Donald Trump’s Florida golf course where his alleged would-be assassin was hiding because the former president’s visit was an “off-the-record” plan, the embattled agency’s acting director admitted.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly set up a sniper’s nest on the edge of Trump International West Palm Beach and hid there undetected for nearly 12 hours before Trump, 78, teed off on Sunday afternoon, federal prosecutors said.
Acting Secret Service head Ronald Rowe Jr. said Monday that agents didn’t mount an intense search of the perimeter because the 45th president’s round wasn’t on his official calendar.

That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.
So if it was “off the record”, how did the guy know about it in order to setup a hide 12 hours earlier?
Obviously, at least one person on the security team provided location and schedule information to the potential shooter, or someone on his team. We still have rats and snakes in the cellar.
“how did the guy know about it in order to setup a hide 12 hours earlier?”
There was a probability that Trump would show up based on Trump’s history of showing up there.
It’s like picking a stock. Sometimes you get a 10-bagger.
It sounds like Trump tries to do a round almost every day, scheduled or not. That’s not a good enough excuse.
At who’s direction?
It seems God stepped in if the Secret Service is telling the truth about noticing a barrel sticking out of the brush. Normally, you wouldn’t stick a barrel out any until you are ready to shoot. And seeing the end of a barrel at that distance is very fortunate.
Woke , lazy and useless
Other than stand around and look the other way..what is it that the SS does?
The perp was found and arrested by LOCAL sheriff. Is this correct?
All part of the plan.
Find and groom a patsy.
Provide unsecured perimeter and safe passage to nest.
Allow shots to be taken.
Act surprised.
Admit the process failures short of participation.
Blame the victim.
Did I miss anything?
I wonder if the Secret Service uses dogs in their protection details, I’ve never seen one but don’t know the answer.
It would seem to me a couple of agents with dogs could easily sweep the perimeter and easily detect someone hiding, assuming you want to find people.
These people didn’t even bother to search the golf course treeline perimeter, you know where any possible assassin would be located.
Also the guy was wearing an orange shirt. It might have been a different outcome if he had been wearing camouflage clothing..
In fairness to the Secret Service, this golf course has many slopes.
More likely the cover was blown another way and SS fabricated the story to look like heroes when they intentionally left the parameter unsecured and offered safe passage to the nest.
Who’s playing Darth Vader in all this. “You have failed me for the last time”
Who’s the new douchey head of the SS who can’t get the Death Star built.
One or more traitorous moles
They use thermal imaging, or at least they should be using it.
Ha!
