Kamala Harris won’t articulate her economic plan – so Trump put on a master class
new york post ^ | Sep. 7, 2024 | Charles Gasparino

Funny thing happened on Thursday: Donald Trump articulated the Kamala Harris economic plan better than Kamala Harris.

To borrow the left’s favorite criticism of all things Trump, it was “weird.” Worse, it was a stark reminder of how much is on the line as Americans go to polls to pick their next president. They really need to think hard before allowing someone like “Comrade Kamala,” to borrow Trump’s favorite name for his opponent, near the center of power.

I came to that conclusion while listening to Trump’s wide-ranging and detailed economic speech that day at a luncheon sponsored by The Economic Club of New York. I was struck not just by Trump’s command of economic matters, but also by how much Harris has been leaving it up to her opponent to explain how she wants to run a $28 trillion economy.

It makes me think, she either doesn’t have a plan or isn’t smart enough to explain what her advisers are dreaming up.

Gasparino is less sure about Trump's ideas for tariffs:

I’ve never been a big fan of the other part of MAGA economics, aka economic nationalism. I suspect people in the audience weren’t, either, when he explained his across-the-board tariffs to make American companies more competitive. Yes, I have my doubts, but I did notice some nodding in agreement as Trump explained how he will lower the corporate tax rate to 15% for those companies that make their goods in the US.

If your only concern is getting the cheapest product then it is true that having a global approach from an economic perspective can lower the cost of products but as a President that is really not the only goal. Wild example, if you could get it cheaper would you source all of your tanks from Russia? The President of the United States has to consider more than pure market economics.

I believe in financially balanced trade in general along the lines of the US/Canadian auto industry system of my youth.

A tariff of 25% won’t block imports of stuff from China that are made by workers paid a fourth of US wages.

All the tariffs will do is to give DC politicians more money to buy votes. Trump has suggested that tariff money could be used federally fund childcare.

One idea to provide childcare:

Seven days a week jobs and childcare can be shared.

Week 1

Mom 1
4 days job
3 days childcare
Mom 2
4 days child care
3 days job

Week 2

Mom 2
4 days job
3 days childcare
Mom 1
4 days child care
3 days job

If the workday is 10 hours long, each mom will average 35 hours a week working on average.

In 2024, unlike 1924, many companies like grocery stores, Walmart and Amazon operate seven days a week.

NOTE: It would be an entirely a private initiative, so it does not appear on my profile page as a campaign platform issue.

Another idea to provide childcare:

instead of “18 years of WIC, SNAP, TANF and Section 8”

Mothers’ Helpers Nursing Home

You will:
1. work 4 days a week taking care of the elderly,
2. work 1 day a week taking care of the children of mothers such as yourself,
3. get an 10x10 room with private bath and kitchen,
4. get paid the state minimum wage.

Leftists believe they can increase revenue by raising the corporate tax without damage to the consumer with higher prices and inflation. But we know the facts, corporations are tax conduits.

The anti tariff people have a point, but what they don’t seem to take into account is just how much we give away. We are getting hammered on all sides and it is not sustainable. Tariffs are 1 way to start leveling the playing field. It’s a finger in the dike but it’s far batter than status wuo. There needs to be a multi pronged approach that includes some tariffs.

The Democrat Party has a 2024 Platform.

Trump had better be prepared to respond to it.

Either
1. I would....
2. Well, of course, for about $17,000 per year per American resident in federal spending, Democrats like Kamala Harris can have things to show for it, but overall, most Americans would be better off spending their own money rather than having the federal government fritter much of it away....

I know most of you are working hard, but still struggling. That doesn’t seem right, and it isn’t. Our systems are messed up and need reform. I recognize that and will if you elect enough Republicans to Congress, put America back on the right path wherein highly productive enterprises paying highly remunerative employee compensation. Kamala Harris proposes a few more band-aids.

Give me a Republican Congress and another four years in office and we will together give you the major surgery this country needs. Kamala Harris and some band-aids are not going to fix this country.

I favor an ever increasingly blocked currency.

India uses a blocked currency.

Banking system transfers to outside of the USA would get increasingly taxed.

If a company barters US stuff for Mexican stuff this would avoid the banking system foreign transfer taxation.

Good point. Tariffs were a part of the pre-COVID Trump economy, which was pretty damn good. Although he has some doubts, Gasparino is very pro-Trump.

“corporations are tax conduits.”

That’s only partially true. Companies vary wildly in profitability.

Widget X, tax rate 10%

Company A $1000, pre-tax profit $200, tax $20, after-tax profit $180
Company B $1000, pre-tax profit $50, tax $5, after-tax profit $45

change the tax rate to 50%

Company B $1040, pre-tax $90, tax $45, after-tax profit $45
Company A $1040, pre-tax profit $240, tax $120, after-tax profit $120

The consumers are paying $40 more, but since Company A is typically the predominant company, the government is getting on average almost $100 more per Widget X sold.

The consumer might pay more for widgets but could pay less in 1040 tax.

Tomorrow night is a great opportunity for Trump, assuming ABC mods don’t pull a Chris Wallace. And watch for deep state surprises.

There are some smart people working to support Kamala, as evidenced by the money raising, getting to be the nominee, and the waylaying of Joe Biden.

I believe she is inherently lazier than Obama, but when the chips are down, she might be able to deliver. Consider her campaign to become DA.

The federal government is spending about $17,000 per American per year.

Do you feel like you got $17,000 from the federal government in the previous 12 months?

Probably only if you had a surgical operation at federal expense or got Section 8 housing. You’d probably feel the surgery was good, but you’d probably consider the Section 8 housing wasn’t a good value for Uncle Sam.

If you live in a household of four people, do you feel the household got $68,000 from Uncle Sam in the last 12 months?

It would be a rare household indeed. The federal government often squanders money. Give me a Republican Congress and the Oval Office again and we’ll get far better value for you.

Let’s face it: leftists care only about the acquisition and maintenance of power. They don’t care about the economy, individuals, inflation, or anything else. Their plans are token statements, designed to get votes to acquire power.

This is why they will ‘tax the greedy corporations’ and ‘freeze prices on food’: because that’s a populist-sounding message for sheeple who don’t do math.

There are no actual plans for the economy or foreign policy. There is only the plan to win at any cost so that they can do their actual plan of imposing their Communist/Socialist will on everyone.

Commie-LA (in a Santa Claus suit):

Solar panels on every roof
EVs galore
childcare for all
college education (and carnal knowledge) for those who want it and can get admitted
health care for invaders
pork barrel construction projects to put every union construction worker in a plum-paying position
more apartments, condos and houses
10-story Section 8 apartment blocks in your single-family house neighborhood
four housing units instead of just one on many suburban lots
more money for possible descendants of slaves than they know how to handle
carrots for Rudolph, Donner and Blitzen

and more abortion abattoirs

Willie Brown isn't a factor here.

No matter what question the mods throw at Trump tomorrow night, he needs to take a deep breath first, then let it out and THEN start in with his response. Slow, articulate, and most of all, present it TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE like he’s talking to each of us in our homes. That’s how Reagan was...
