Starmer faces union pressure over winter fuel payment cut

Leaders of two of the biggest unions have added further pressure on the government over its plan to cut winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners in England and Wales.

Unite and the Public and Commercial Services Union have criticised the plan, while the head of the Trades Union Congress which brings together the unions also expressed his concerns.

It comes as the prime minister faces a potential rebellion at a vote in the Commons on Tuesday if Labour MPs refuse to support the policy.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said the cut is necessary due to the state of the country's finances.

Very interesting as you know the unions call the shots in the labor movement it's no different and if they say it's a mistake then there could be a sizable rebellion brewing in parliament.

Totally agree . Bring back the England I first visited as a young man back in 1976 . Unfortunately , it’s not going to happen . There are not enough Brits who’ll actually stand up and fight for their survival .
