'Tens of thousands' of pro-Palestinian protesters march on Israeli embassy in London where hundreds-strong counter-demo flying flags of Israel lie in wait - with eight people arrested

Eight arrests have been made as pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through central London in protest at the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Thousands of campaigners set off from Piccadilly Circus shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday, with the march passing alongside Hyde Park before ending on Kensington Road.

The Metropolitan Police said in a post on X that the arrests were for a range of offences, including those under the Public Order Act.

Protesters held signs at the demonstration that read 'Starmer has blood on his hands' and 'Stop the war coalition'.

The march was briefly halted when at least two counter-protesters, including one holding up a sign reading 'Hamas is terrorist', blocked its progress outside the Park Lane Hotel near Green Park. It has now, however, completely ended.

Two men were then detained by police after a significant struggle.

A separate counter-protest gathered on Kensington High Street, with participants dancing to music and waving Israeli, British and American flags, but was kept away from the much larger pro-Palestinian march by police officers and barricades.

The protest is the 18th organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) since the conflict began last October.

The Metropolitan Police had imposed a series of conditions on the event, including that the demonstration must end by 5pm.

Another event which had been scheduled to take place on the intended route for the march was cancelled, the force said.

1. I doubt any of the arrestees will face years in prison, unlike the white people who protested the murder of three white children.

2. It's curious to see gay Rainbow Israel flags among the pro-Israel protestors.

3. I wonder if Britain's Jews are rethinking some things: UK Jewish community welcomes election of London’s new, Muslim mayor.

UK, like USA and Canada, is in serious decline. The antisemitism is just one (very sickening) sign of this. Basically, the British ruling elite has sold the place out to the Islamic invasion. For every one “good” (peaceful, seeking to live in harmony successfully in Britain) UK (and USA, Canada) have got a dozen dangerous invaders (with and without entry papers). Will the British people rise up and defend their homes/ homeland?

The traitors first. The invaders second. Third - there are many.

I’m glad that I got to see London and Britian in the 1970’s when it was still British and its politicians weren’t sold out.

Like the ones in Dearborn, Michigan and in New York City and elsewhere, the photos of thousands of unabashed anti-semites marching and chanting hate are chilling.

No one learned from history from WWII about the consequences.

It will not always be one side fighting.

the British ruling elite has sold the place out to the Islamic invasion.

That would be the bankers and financiers, those with international (and Wall Street) connections, many of them rising to power during the Thatcher years.

The traditional British ruling elite (the landed gentry aristocrats) lost their power by the end of WW 2. Their progeny had lived beyond their means, mortgaging their vast estates to bankers during the latter 19th and early 20th century.

Then came the high taxes during the Depression, and more so after WW 2 to pay for the war. Plus the loss of many overseas colonial estates. The aristocrats were unable to pay all their taxes and mortgages without selling their estates.

Britain's ruling bluebloods were mostly out of power by the Thatcher years. Their vast former estates are now in public hands or in the hands of new immigrants (Indians, Russians, Arabs, Israelis, Chinese, etc.).

Me, too. The day is coming when the iconoclast Muslims start on the British Museum.

understood, all i meant was those now pulling the power strings... a few of the old landed gentry for sure but also the more recent “upstarts” ... people are born, people die...societal systems and cliques (or “classes”) have turnover
Still, it is those in charge, those who pull the power strings that are most responsible for selling UK, USA, Canada out.
the average factory worker or office worker or computer programmer or grocery bagger does not have the power...whether in UK or USA or Canada

Third - there are many.

I believe throughout history they have been known as either sympathizers and/or collaborators. It is so sad we have to relive history, yet again.

Yes, but I think the old Western ruling elites cared more about their nations. For all their faults, they took pride in their heritage and national histories and empires.

The new ruling elites treat nations as economic zones, the native populations as a nuisance to be replaced with cheaper labor. They flit about the globe in yachts and private jets, and consider themselves "citizens of the world." They have no homeland, and what happens in the land of their birth is of no concern to them.

I expect both words, sympathizer and collaborator, will be outlawed soon. Can’t have the truth just floating around where anyone can see it.

Regular Englishmen will become like the Romanized Celts of old yielding to the Saxon (Pakis), Jutes (Hindus) and Angles (Africans).

But there will be no Ireland, Scotland or Wales to seek refuge in.

understood. i too think that many of the old Ruling Elite did care more about their countries than today’s Power-String-Pullers and Political-Puppet-Meisters do

agreed!

If Israel let the world and the UN be the ultimate decides we would still be fighting the six day War.

My mother was born and raised in Manchester; she came to America in 1950 to marry my dad who was in the USAF. In 1957, my dad was stationed in England so we lived there for 5 yrs. I was young so I don’t remember it that much, just little snippets. However, in 1981 hubby and I had the opportunity to travel there to visit friends. We stayed for almost a month and it was wonderful. I’m so glad I got to see England before the rot took hold.
