A plant in Charleroi will close its doors by the end of the year.
Employees at the Anchor Hocking plant say they were given the news by the chief executive officer.
The closure would affect around 325 jobs. The CEO allegedly told employees that 150 positions would be moved to their plant in Lancaster, Ohio.
City officials tell Pittsburgh Action News 4 they are devastated. Quality Pasta Company near the plant shut down. That closure meant 100 jobs lost.
In the case of the Charleroi plant, employees say they were told production was shut down because officials did not want to keep two facilities open.
Pittsburgh Action News 4 has reached out to the corporate office for a statement.

How is that Bidenomics thing working out for you? The transgender studies major could care less since she is getting her student loan forgiven and can continue to live in Mama's basement, get knocked up without consequence and work at Starbucks for change.

How is blowing up a trade war with China which has already cost the US a quarter of a million jobs in Trump’s 1st term going to help ?

I’ve noticed that Wally-World’s kitchen department has replaced many glass products with plastic in the last couple of years.

I queried Co Pilot.....
“The Anchor Hocking plant in Charleroi primarily manufactures blown mold plastic containers1. However, it’s worth noting that the plant is set to close by the end of the year, affecting around 325 jobs2.
Is there anything specific you were looking to know about their products or the closure?
There was no need for the plant any more. It’s customer closed shop

When will Anchor Hocking announce massive price reductions now that their product is made by 3rd world coolies making 1/10 of the US wage? We're waiting.

My wife is from Charleroi. My brother in law still lives there. Charleroi has had it's glory days and is barley holding on. They are busing in Haitians like crazy. They are just hanging out every wear. McBeth Evans started the glass plant in the late 1800s. Then it was Corning for years. It was also World Kitchen for a while. I can hear the plane quitting time whistle blow from my house. Sadly not anymore.
