You have to be mighty rich to set your thermostat on 69 when it’s 110 outside in Texas.

The lowest we go is 72. I am fine with the thermostat set up to 78, but my wife put the kibosh on that. My plan with TXU keeps the monthly bill around 350. When the weather cools down, the gas bill starts going up. My usual gas/electric bills are 400 per month year-round.

I find that closed cell foam insulation works very well in those conditions.

When I lived in Arizona, we had our air conditioner set at 84 F.

Night time lows (yes, night time) in August were usually around 98 F.

I would never have mine at 69 degrees. I’d freeze and my wife would die. That’s completely ridiculous to even have this idiot think everyone keeps it that low. We keep our at 77 day and night in Florida. I definitely don’t feel deprived at all. It’s perfect in fact.
