“But, while there, they had information about a related service which has single rooms, bedroom & living quarters, and two-bedroom apartments. It has outside areas, a nice wooded walking trail. Since the apartments have kitchens with them, he could cook when he wishes.”

If your dad is still pretty independent I think he would like a place like this over a nursing home. I hope you can take him back to tour it.

I have said before my husbands BIL resisted but his daughter finally got him to give it a try for a least a year before he sold his house. He absolutely loved being there. He was a people person and he was then able to socialize a lot.

I know of a few people up here that had the same experience.

Older relatives that fought tooth and nail about leaving their homes (understandably) even though they lived alone, and had to rely on people coming in to help them. Though against the move, once they went into a comfortable facility, with good meals prepared for them, lots of people who played cards, watched movies, played games, had music nights, etc., etc.....they quickly enjoyed their days with company and entertainment.

I hope your dad will experience much the same, Jemian. I think you have a great attitude though....everyone dies, best to die doing and living how you like.
