“How is Richard?”

Thanks for asking. I went over to see him today and he is doing better. The Bi-Pap lady came over to give them more instructions on how the machine works etc. He is NOT using it for 4 hours like you have to in order for Medicare to cover the cost. He thought he was useing it for 4 hours when he only used it for 2 hrs a night. One of the things she showed them is the buttons to use that tells them how many hours, how many apneas while in use etc.

The doctor that saw him the day he was released was the first time he saw him and he told him to set the oxygen at 4 when sitting and 6 when up moving around. The Pulmonologist that had been seeing him the other days in the hospital told him to have it at 2 and 4 when up and around. We were told with COPD you don’t want the oxygen to get any higher then 95 and as low as 88. He will be seeing his regular Pulmonologist on Wed so he will tell him where he wants it. By that doctor in the hospital he saw on the day released telling him he wanted it set higher they had to exchange the compressor he had and get a different one because the other didn’t go up high enough.

So far he has had no desire to smoke. He is using the Nicotine patches and Wellbutrin. At some point he will have to wean off of those. Hopefully he never will have the desire to smoke again.

Sounds like he’s going to make a nice recovery, Spunky. Glad to read this. I hope if he does pick up a smoke in a weak moment, it takes like crap and makes him barf lol. That should take care of it!

It’s a good thing the by pap lady came by to see richard. I guess that’s the problem when you’re in the hospital, you see different doctors that might give conflicting directions.

Hopefully this is enough of a scar to keep him off of the cigarettes.

So many people here smoke, and I have no idea how they can afford it. I didn’t even know they had cigarettes behind customer service at grocery stores, until the other day I had to go exchange something at kroger.
