In a social media post this morning, Republican presidential nominee and former president Donald Trump threw his weight behind a Florida ballot initiative that would legalize recreational marijuana for adults, although he said the state legislature needs to pass laws prohibiting public use.
Trump, a Florida resident, had teased for several weeks that he would announce his position on Amendment 3, a proposed constitutional amendment going before Florida voters this November. In a post on Truth Social this morning, Trump wrote:
In Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval, personal amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3. Whether people like it or not, this will happen through the approval of the Voters, so it should be done correctly. We need the State Legislature to responsibly create laws that prohibit the use of it in public spaces, so we do not smell marijuana everywhere we go, like we do in many of the Democrat run Cities. At the same time, someone should not be a criminal in Florida, when this is legal in so many other States. We do not need to ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them, and no one should grieve a loved one because they died from fentanyl laced marijuana. We will make America SAFE again!

Holy Crap!! I just posted the last name of the author. The name that shall not be posted! Another reason for the FBI to target me. Curses!
Doesn’t bother me. State issue.
Agreed. His idea about tightening qualified immunity has me wondering it’s even worth it a third time. They already benefit from a 2 tired justice system, and small municipalities with unnecessary PD’s are a drain on taxpayer budgets in a time of economic uncertainty.
Follow the money. Morgan & Morgan are big money backers for Florida cannabis legalization. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has worked with Morgan & Morgan for years. DJT and RFK Jr. have forged an alliance. Let’s not turn Florida into Colorado.
Oh boy.
I usually say the same thing. However, Ohio, across the river, legalized it two weeks ago. Now my grandchildren can get 35% THC dope easier than a six pack Coors if they want. That other state issue will probably bite me on the behind this time.
Big mistake!!
It should be like alcohol. Heck, it’s harder to buy tobacco.
“Like wowwwwwww…maaan like you know make America (puff puff puff puff) like, great again man , I need some munchies what’s in the refrigerator, dude?”
I have pudding.
“ I don’t like it.”
If you live there, and you don’t like it, you should move to some place you like…
For example, Stalingrad or Leningrad.
I guess VA will be next.
I bet the feds legalize it real soon.
I wonder if laws against public marijuana use are enforceable in practice. My fear is legalizing small quantities means we’re doomed to smell the stench of pot everywhere, even the law says you can’t smoke it in public.
I just don’t care much about this. I’m not in my twenties and I gave up smoking weed decades ago, but I’m still here and doing OK - I don’t think it does any real harm and I don’t think it’s my business if adults choose to use it.
Outlaw smells I don’t like. Free deodorant for everyone!
This COULD be a brilliant Trumpian move IF he knew that the Harris admin was about to announce a Fed legalization plan to help her get votes and de-fang her past prosecution record problems.
Brownies will cost much more.
