People in South Jersey say they are feeling the crunch after their summer electric bills skyrocketed. Many say they were shocked to see their Atlantic City Electric bills increase, in some cases doubling, and they want answers.
Shannon Franke, an AC Electric customer, said she was shocked when she got her most recent bill in the mail. She went from owing $434 in June, to $780 in July. By August she owed $1,032

When complaining about power bills, one should also declare their position on green energy, and climate change and also disclose their political party alignment. This would help me decide whether to feel sympathy or to gloat over their plight.

Far be it for a dumbass reporter to ask for a year over year comparison of the rate change. Is there a chance this customer used A/C in August and not in June?
A little surprised to hear energy costs are up; especially after the huge investments in solar.
Solar energy is free. Costs should be dropping like a rock.
? Most people don’t accept a $1,000 residential utility bill A/C or no A/C.
I moved out of that tristate area decades ago seeing prices climbing. $4,400 per month now in a clunky little apartment in Gramercy Park.
When I moved out the &800 per month was out of control
I pay $300 per month for A/C here where we had 105 avg all of August

What did those idiots think would happen when they went all-in on “green”?
Did they think that somehow, magically they could make CO2 emissions disappear and there wouldn’t be any impact on power prices?
Just wait until they discover the sun isn’t shining at night.
Many of those electricity customers could lower their summer bills... if they own EVs.
So, if they own EVs, they could turn on the A/C in those EVs, and then pump the cool air into their homes. Since EVs have virtually no cost to operate because they’re electric and can be recharged at almost no cost, the EVs should provide cost-free A/C.
EVs coming to the rescue of those who vote democrat. Let’s see if those Atlantic City electricity customers will adopt my idea to lower their bills. ;) I won’t ‘charge’ them anything.

Yeah, keep voting Dem and learn from the Communist state of California - where we pay an average of double for utilities than any other state - and certainly gas - than any other state, due to mismanagement, green policies and carbon exchanges. My bill was over $400 and I was gone for two weeks with the a/c shut off.
Yet over and over the “voters” elect Commies.
Love my state. Hate its government.
It is like my mother. Now that my dad is gone she has to pay her own taxes. She has voted for every tax increase, bond, spending program, welfare benefit, and liberal her whole life. It never occurred that she would be getting the bill for it all.
Is that the area where the elected a Republican, truck driver and then voted him out the next election for another Democrat?
You can thank the cheap renewables for that.

And it’s not just about climate.
Methinks AC Electric has a lot of overhead costs like paying off local and state politicians in Joisy.
I am sure that there is a green energy story in there somewhere.
