See tagline. The federal government had a duty to end slavery being left up to the states. It took a Civil War to end that abomination.

They have a duty to ending abortion being left up to the states. But both parties are OK with this.

Dobbs was the worst.

I completely support his stance. 6 weeks seems too short but 24 weeks seems absurd. He always seems to think about an issue and take a balanced position to support the middle ground. Rarely does he take a position I can’t get behind and, when he does, I just don’t care. There’s NOTHING of more importance than getting him elected. Argue later.

What you describe is cowardice at best and pandering at worst. Better to play the careful coward and be silent, than pander the wrong side.

Daily Mail is obviously confusing this by being all over the place. They are using abortion and trying to aid RATs by causing trouble on the right. They say would, then they say he could, then they say he might.

People saying this doesn’t matter are full of it. Him saying this will encourage a significant minority of MAGA to vote similar. If you agree with him, fine,but don’t hide behind it not mattering because “he is just one vote”.

....... On the other hand ... the 10th Amendment of the Constitution was the foundation for the Dobbs decision to defer the choice to the States for ruling....

The choice in Florida right now is either a 6 week ban, or a 24 week ban (which is what the left wants).

So if by “dismantling” you mean “giving in to” - then sure.

Trump is trying to win an election in a country where a majority of the voters support legal access to abortion.

We don't have to like it but that's the reality of the situation. Our choices are between voting for pro-abortion Trump or voting for pro-abortion and full blown communist Kamala Harris.

That’s what I’m afraid of. The wording of the FL amendment indicates that a “healthcare provider” can essentially OK an abortion at any time for unspecified “health” reasons. This means in effect some Planned Parenthood “healthcare provider” can rubber stamp an abortion up to 9 months. I hope someone has pointed out the real meaning of this language to him. There is no way this will not be abused in horrifying ways.

And on another hand - the 14th Amendment provides that no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

A simple 5-4 decision declaring unborn children are indeed citizens would be the correct ruling. Dobbs contradicted that Amendment.
