Shake Shack plans to close multiple "underperforming" restaurants in several U.S. states, according to a document filed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday (August 27).
The popular chain plans to close nine stores located in California, Ohio and Texas, however, no other stores are expected to be affected and the plan won't impact expansion in the three states, according to the filing. All Shake Shack management affected by the closures will be offered positions at neighboring locations and hourly employees will be eligible for rehire.
Six of the nine Shake Shacks scheduled to close are in California and located in Oakland, Downtown Los Angeles, Culver City, Koreatown in Los Angeles, Silver Lake in Los Angeles and Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The other three closures are reported to be in Columbus, Ohio, and Houston, Texas.
The fast food chain does, however, still have more than 20 locations in the Los Angeles area, which includes California's first drive-thru location opened earlier this month, as well as nearly 330 locations in the U.S. and more than 400 globally. Shake Shack is the latest national brand to experience closures in the state of California and nationally, following Big Lots and Red Lobster's decisions to reduce their footprint.
["Shake Shack promises that by 2025, their leadership will be 50% Black"]
it only took one eat there at it’s flagship in Manhattan way back before it went public to know it was doomed.
maybe it was the way the fans blew all the kitchens greasy air out onto the sidewalk so that pedestrians who were bothered by it had to switch sides to avoid breathing that convinced me.
then after all the ipo hooplah I couldn’t wait for the market to render its judgment. 10 years of artificially low interest rates and other games prolonged that event.
I guess it actually started as a kiosk in a park near Union Square area but the store 86th was sickening.
“Underperforming”, the new term that describes restaurants and other businesses that can’t stay open because inflation made them too expensive for people to afford.
Wait just one damn minute. Lowbridge just posted they’re committed to DEI. What gives?
And many people are using GLP-1 drugs (JD Vance?)
Maybe they are anticipating the benefit of DEI hiring?
Shake Shack @shakeshack promises that by 2025, their leadership will be 50% Black. They also boast about ensuring more women and Black people got promotions.
In other words, they will discriminate against White people.

I tried it once here it Texas, felt like it was way overpriced. Maybe slightly better food at double the price of other fastfood places.
They were overpriced BEFORE inflation.
Hiring a team to ensure that happens takes money. Apparently a lot of it.
Just glad to hear they aren’t closing because of crime or high operational costs (excluding diversity, which is probably connected to taxpayer dollars).
They’re committed to DIE is sounds like.
Their normal shakes are pretty good. The current special shakes, Peach and Strawberry Donut, do not seem worthwhile.
They have a fried portobello mushroom you can have in a sandwich that is fun.
Currently, they have a promo for a free shake of any type with a $10 purchase.
It’s an indulgence we’ve allowed ourselves, and the first time for Shake Shack.
Ties into your post earlier?
The woke Left always claims that they want company management, government cabinets, etc. to “look like America.” So, if we were to actually do that a management team of say, 16 people, would consist of 11 white people, 2 black people, maybe 2 Hispanics and 1 Asian person. Of course, we know that’s not what they really want. What they really mean by “diverse” is 100% black.
“double the price of other fastfood places.”
That goes for “Five Guys” burger joint, too. At there ONCE and never again.
Yes, a tie-in to lowbridge’s article: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4261574/posts

Not popular enough, apparently
“mean while plan on opening 80 new locations?”
If true, here’s hoping they all go belly-up when people find out they are Didn’t-Earn-It driven and openly discriminate against Whites.
