Ukraine's top commander says fighting on Pokrovsk front 'exceptionally tough'

(Reuters) - Ukraine's top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Thursday he spent several days on the eastern Pokrovsk front and described fighting there as "exceptionally tough".

Russia has been pressing hard towards the strategic hub of Pokrovsk in recent months, steadily inching forward.

The scale of assaults did not drop after Ukraine launched a surprise incursion into Russia's west Kursk region on Aug. 6. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the situation near Pokrovsk was "extremely difficult" and Kyiv would further strengthen its positions.

"Fights are exceptionally tough. The enemy throws into battle everything that can move and advance, trying to break through our defenses," commander Syrskyi said on Facebook.

He said the most intense clashes were taking place in the area of Krasnyi Yar, some 10 km (6.2 miles) from the city of Pokrovsk.

Eastern outskirts of Hrodivka village, less than 9 km (5.6 miles) from the strategic route connecting the city to Kostiantynivka, were also seeing intensified assaults, Syrskyi added.

Ukraine is in fighting retreat in the Donbas.

The goal is to preserve their forces in Kursk for as long as possible. But they know what the long term looks like, and seem resolved to it.

The total loss of all Oblasts claimed by Russia.

But their principal goal remains: Bait NATO/US into direct war with Russia.

Ukraine has lost any hope of winning. Russia has 1.4m soldiers now and less than 450k in Ukraine. Many of us believed Russia would send over half of these soldiers into Ukraine and beat them head on, however Russia has choosen to pound them with aviation and artillery, saving lives of Russian troops.

No more ADA, reserves are essentially gone, power grid one nights work from total destruction.

Ukraine Armed Forces have been depleated in manpower and transport.

US stuck in ME, Ukraine and two years behind in the pivot to China.

Putin may have saved much of the world from globalism.

Exceptionally tough indeed. Or as William Sherman said, “War is difficult.” Who knew?

Well, they can always surrender, however they should probably get rid of their Human Shield captives first.

The Communist International has been the greatest threat to America since the 1910’s. We have been fighting these creeps for 115 years and they have almost subjugated the West.

Nowhere in the world does the government abuse its citizens as much as the West with their active campaign of ethnic replacement, impoverishment and enslavement like America.

The average age of a Ukrainian soldier is 42. They only recently lowered the draft age from 27 to 25. Why not younger? The population pyramid shows why. Zelensky knows that drafting 18-25 year olds is untenable politically. He had problems lowering the age from 27 to 25. Moreover, the demographics don’t work for this aging society. Look at 20-24 year olds.

And how many young, fighting age Ukrainians have fled the country? Who wants to be the last man to die for a mistake?

No way to know how many are below 25, but according to a number of sources, there are 860,000 “adult Ukrainian men” now living in the EU.

Zelensky called upon EU nations to send them back to fight this spring, but no dice.

When you compare the 2023 Russian Population Pyramid below to Ukraine, you can understand why Ukraine has no shot at "winning." You are talking about a difference in millions of males of fighting age.

History tells us the DNC forced FDR on America for four terms. They cheated to get Kennedy in office, stealing the election from Nixon. They killed Kennedy (2x) and then ran Nixon out of office. They stole the 2020 election and tried to put Trump in Prison. The DNC is the Marxist threat we have been fighting. The Democrat Socialists of America, the American Communist Party, are all Democrat Big Tent organizations.

Absolutely no argument there from me. Have been saying this myself, although have avoided FD lately because of tendancy to be ignorant, simplistic — and rather like a brawl between football fans. Very little analytical discussion.

Article states......”Some 4.3 million Ukrainians were living in European Union countries as of January 2024, of whom about 860,000 are adult men”

And most will not return to Ukraine - they have found a life in their host country ‘free’ of war and and threats of war so ordinary in Ukraine. And they are planning on moving their parents with them if not already there. There kids are in schools and thriving.
