So, the Russians hit Ukraine with one of the largest strike packages of the war - over 200 launches including drones and a wide spectrum of missiles.

A few notable things that stand out against other strikes (besides the size) were hits on three separate 750kv substations in western Ukraine, including one in Vinnytsia.
This is very important, because sufficient damage to transmission in the western oblasts will prevent Ukraine from importing European electricity to replace its own lost generation. They've relied heavily on imports to prop up their grid.

“Also noteworthy - the Kremlin put out a statement *after* the strikes saying that they are preparing a response to the Kursk invasion, which might imply that more of these strikes are on deck.”
The money takeaway! I, personally, think the response will be, as some FReeper told me yesterday, getting the 40 mile column band from Belarus back together again.

They sure aren’t going all out like it was Berlin ‘45 or Stalingrad’42/’43. Strange war...very restrained when you compare to WW2.

If you have no electricity you have no way to operate the myriad systems that require it to operate.
Generators are a poor substitute.

Electricity grids are an easy fix... A week or two at worst, in most cases it’s just a day or two. So what else was accomplished?

Evidence is the Russian response to the Kursk invasion, using conscripts to try to stop the Ukrainian incursion.

Unless you hit big transfer stations where the very expensive switching and transformer equipment is. And the center of the networks which control it.
Much, if not most of which is Soviet era.

If you have the transformers, if not you’re SOL.

Too much panics NATO into joining the war
Too little and no progress…

Putin’s killing me! He’s fighting like George McClellan! I fear he’ll fiddle fart around long enough for this to get escalated over the nuclear threshold. He needs to get on with the “bloody arithmetic”. End this and stop the killing. Grant would have known what to do.

At minimum, 300,000 highly trained (most in training since mobilization), well armed reserves. You can not face plant in the MSM/Gubmint feeding trough every day and expect to know what’s going on.
Oh, and don’t get me going on how the troops who were defending this border three weeks were rope a doped into the Kursk Pocket. The door has slammed shut behind them. They’ll gone!

Panic, frustration, desperation...
will cause Putin to act wildly, and stupidly.
The Ukrainians taking over large parts of Kursk is causing Putin to have nightmares, and so, he's acting out his frustrations.
The injured people of Ukraine will be made to double-down resist more strongly, and Putin will have to find a lot more missiles and drones, and then, the vicious cycle will repeat, and Putin will have more nightmares and wonder why help from overseas is not helping, such as the cheer-leading from certain 'discussion forums'. "What else must I do?!?" Putin was heard to say.

Wow. Only took three years for Putin to make it to this point in his war.
I guess he’s on the 5yr plan.
