The CEO and founder of the encrypted social media app, Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested on August 24 at Le Bourget airport near Paris as he was departing his private jet.
Durov's arrest has triggered a heated debate with most influencers seeing it as an onslaught on free speech. A hashtag #FreeDurov popped up on X.
Former US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tweeted: "France just arrested Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of the encrypted and uncensored Telegram platform. The need to protect free speech has never been more urgent."
Naomi Seibt, a German conservative political activist, dubbed anti-Greta by the Washington Post, alleged on X: "Why do you think they just arrested the owner of Telegram, Pavel Durov? This is a test run. They are setting a precedent. Their ultimate target is Elon Musk."
Candace Owens, an African American conservative television presenter, tweeted: "The trouble with free speech is that it disallows the media to set the narrative. They used to be able to justify war to you in a faraway land. Now you can see the reality of what they are doing. This is why Pavel Durov has been arrested - because the demons are losing control."
Italian film producer, Robin Monotti, remarked on X: "Pavel Durov is facing up to 20 years in Macron's dungeons for refusing to censor content on behalf of the globalist oligarchy and their war machine."

The problem is most have been indoctrinated in Socialist ways and now they perpetuate the ideology within the workforce. Once society sinks into this abyss, it takes a generation of re-education to turn it around. That’s why one of the many first things to do for Trump is to abolish the DOE and purge the socialist teachers unions of their wayward ways.

Rumble CEO Chris Pavolvski announced on Sunday that he has escaped France and departed communist Europe.
Pavlovski, who runs one of the largest social media companies in the world in Rumble, has always vowed to make his platform an oasis for free speech unlike the far-left tyrants at Google-YouTube who allow leftists to spew unlimited amount of lies but will not allow conservative voices a voice on the platform without restrictions.

I certainly agree with the free speech / censorship angle on this, but the other side of the story — the alleged blatant illegal activities that Telegram has hosted — deserves an ear too.
I think conservatives will be making a mistake to dismiss the classical crime aspect of this ..
He has a brother, too, who co-founded Incontact with him.
Does t seem to be any warrants out on his brother .
In 2014 Nellie Ohr of Russia Hoax / Crossfire Hurricane fame was looking for Russian Social Media Users in 2014.
Before the 2016 election Pavel Durov and his brother were trying to court Trump Jr. and Scavino, promising the Trump campaign a wider audience (on their In Contact / Vkontakte platform) This platform was associated with neonazis, etc.
I would be very cautious of Durov as he may have been in cahoots with Nellie Our and Steele.
The Durov’s really didn’t have what Trump needed because that platform was not exactly populated by eligible US voters...more like Russians and Iranians. So what would Trump have gained? What were they really trying to offer?
