Vladimir Zelensky has signed a law that calls for the banning of any religious group suspected of having ties to Russia. It threatens to effectively shut down the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) - the largest faith-based organization in the country.
The Ukrainian parliament introduced the legislation earlier this week; it is expected to take effect in 30 days. After that, all the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and all affiliated religious organizations will be outlawed.
The Synod stated that it would appeal Kiev's actions with international human rights organizations and call on them to immediately and objectively respond to the "flagrant persecution of believers in Ukraine."
Meanwhile, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev responded to the new law by stating that Zelensky has "no religious identity" and describing the crackdown as "full-fledged Satanism," supported by Ukraine's Western backers.
"This story will not go unpunished for Ukraine," Medvedev wrote, stating "the country will be destroyed, like Sodom and Gomorrah," referring to the Old Testament story of two cities obliterated by divine intervention for their wickedness. "The demons will inevitably fall," he continued, adding that their punishment will be "earthly, cruel, painful and will happen soon."

My guess is that there will be repercussions linked to this decision, and the closure of this church will sharply divide loyalties. He may end up just deciding to dismantle this church to settle things down, once and for all.

If this is a real Christian church their
loyalty is to God and Christ not to the

What is being shut down is the branch of Orthodoxy that is led by the Patriarch of Moscow. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which is headed by a Ukrainian Metropolitan and is headquartered in Kyiv, remains open and has far more member churches and clergy in Ukraine than does its Moscow-based counterpart.
It's sickening hypocrisy to pretend we're helping the Zelensky regime fight for freedom and democracy.
He's exactly right and we and the "liberal world order" are the ones pushing sexual perversion on Ukraine and other parts of Europe.
It's outrageous any Christian would support Ukraine in the present proxy war.
I’ll betcha the Ukraine Orthodox Church will deny the order and continue to worship. Unlike people in the woke West, people in that part of the world are close to their churches.They will revolt.

St Zelensky promotes Church division….and the Western ways, boys in girls bathrooms, gay marriage,men in woman’s sports, genital mutilation….so, yes, Medvedev has this one right.
