Russia and Ukraine exchanged 230 prisoners of war on Saturday, weeks after Ukraine launched a cross-border attack into the Kursk region of Russia.

Kyiv has said one of the goals of the Kursk offensive is to capture Russian soldiers to trade for Ukrainian prisoners of war. Ukraine claims to control over 1,000 sqkm of the Kursk region.

Mr Zelensky said that in addition to capturing Russian soldiers, the Kursk operation had other goals he could not disclose.

The Ukrainian president said the operation was a preventative strike to deter Russian attacks towards Sumy, a city in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president said the operation was a preventative strike to deter Russian attacks towards Sumy, a city in Ukraine.

Last night and Saturday morning, the Russians launched 22 attacks on border areas in Sumy Oblast, with 11 communities got pounded, Sumy regional military administration said in a Telegram report seen by Ukrinform.

“In the night and morning hours, the Russians launched 22 pounding attacks on border areas and communities in the Sumy region, with 57 explosions recorded,” the report says.

In particular, the enemy pounded Shalyhin community with first-person-view (FPV) drones and mortar fire, dropped guided aerial bombs on Sveske, Esmanske, Berezivka, Druzhbivka, and Bilopillya communities.

Moreover, the Russian military dropped mines on Khotyn and Novoslobidka communities, fired artillery and dropped mines

Putin has stated that all Uke prisoners captured when the Kursk Pocket collapses will be eligible for prisoner swaps but NOT non Ukrainians captured. An American or Polish killer for hire captured in Russia are “spies”.

From the article: “He [Zelensky] added Ukraine would do everything to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war through diplomacy.”

Back in July, Zelensky urged international leaders to promptly aid Ukraine and “not to wait for November, or any other month.”

Zelensky knows what’s coming: He’ll be dealing with President Trump and Vice President Vance, men who put America first, men who can’t be bought, men who will put an end to his gravy train.

This huge Ukie incursion into Russia covers about 400 square miles. Let’s put that in perspective. The county where I live is about 30 miles wide and 60 miles long. This big push has taken about 1/2 of the land represented by my county; this in a land mass nearly double the area of the United States. This is about like the Crips taking over another city block in Los Angeles. Much fuss about little.

Meaning that, Trump/Vance will capitulate and allow Russia to take Ukraine.

Wouldn't that be a much bigger foreign policy and military disaster than what occurred with the Afghanistan fiasco?

Take a look at what is actually in that area. There’s nothing and barely anyone there. It has no strategic importance if the Ukes can’t capture the Kursk nuclear plant. It’s a PR stunt. Putin’s “come hither” rope a dope strategy will fill up the Kursk Pocket with all the Uke reserves possible before the door slams behind them allowing their total elimination to be accomplished.

When you attack, you are either oriented on terrain or the enemy.

In this case, Ukraine is taking non key terrain they will inevitably lose, so they are not oriented on terrain.

They attacked a bunch of border guards, so they were not oriented on enemy formations.

The only military strategy that could be at play is to try to get a Russian reaction and relieve the Ukrainian forces pressed in the East fighting what has become a defense and delaying operation.

That is why you’ve seen a muted Russian reaction.

Russia is playing chess.

Ukraine and NATO is playing the news and public perceptions.

The outer perimeter, is the border of Ukraine, and nothing inside, is Russian territory.

No, it means, the never-ending, unaccounted for cash flow of American taxpayer dollars will stop.

I appreciate your effort and sentiment, but if your county is 30 miles by 60 miles that is 1,800 square miles. 400/1800 = .22. So, from what you have written it appears that "this big push has taken" less than 1/4 of the land represented by your county.

The master plan was to capture the Kursk nuclear power plant and having not accomplished that task, and I guess the plan B is to trade the Russian territory they do hold for something the Russians hold in exchange.

Ukraine is a bit like a rabid dog at this point..

Another warmongering zeeper who loves blood and guts and has their head so far up their butt they can’t figure out what the next step could very well be.

You mean freedom fighters. But don’t get your panties in a wad until you see an American captured there. Which you haven’t.

Most people are able to determine that, those two statements mean the same thing. Why can't you?

Vlad was very clear on his objectives stated in the first day.

He will take back the ethnic Russian provinces ( almost done), denazify the Ukie government, and make Ukraine a Constitutional neutral country ( no Nato admission).

Nothing more, nothing less. The hard part lies in denazifying Ukraine, they have many streets and statues named after their Nazi hero Bandera. Even their Rada
( Congress) has a Bandera celebration day.
