The challenge for Iran in retaliation was trying to go beyond its April attack on Israel. Iran now wants to message about how it reserves the right to at some later date. Almost three weeks after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, the Iranian regime is trying to step down from its early claims it would carry out an attack on Israel in retaliation. The regime in Tehran has built up a lot of expectations regarding how it would attack Israel. Now it is trying to shift messaging.
The challenge for Iran in retaliation was trying to go beyond its April attack on Israel when it used more than 300 drones and missiles. However, Iran now wants to message about how it reserves the right to attack at some later date.

Discretion is the better part of valor. Heard it somewhere.
Frontal assault is not how Iran operates.
They blinked, and for good reason-Israel would have leveled Tehran. They proved they could do it.
They had plenty of frontal assaults when they fought Iraq.
They did it using hoards of little boys. They gave each one a plastic "key to heaven." The mullahs sat back and watched the results on TV.
Iran and Israel do not share a border.
To do that they would need to either gain permission to cross Iraq or Turkey and then permission to cross Syria or Jordan.
That would be a long walk to send children on.
Blinken payoff, probably 500B something outrageous. That guy should be the first person renditioned by TrumpII’s Article III domestic tribunal.
They blew up the leader of Hamas in the safe house in Tehran.
This house was the former palace of the Shaw of Iran. Inside a compound totally controlled by the Revolutionary Guard.
I would think that the Mullahs had a “come to Jesus” moment after that.
So sorry.
Shah of Iran not Shaw.
Don’t let your guard down Israel
Netanyahu days,”Do ya feel lucky punk?”
“Iran now wants to message about how it reserves the right to at some later date.”
Of course. If black people in the USA can claim a right to revenge that lasts at least 160 years, surely Iran should get the same courtesy.
Israel should have retaliated with 300 missiles. They were too restrained in their response. And they should have destroyed all the nuclear capabilities in Iran.
Israel would’ve laid waste to Iran’s oil fields and production / refining facilities, thus destroying their economy. Backing off and vowing retaliation at a later vague date was Iran’s only smart move.
Ezekiel 38 will appear to be some sort of surprise, though it should be obvious that it is coming
Ezekiel 38
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
Perhaps. Waiting to see if their surrogates are erased. First Hamas. Then Hezbollah. Then the Houthis. Iran has not fought directly with their own troops since Iraq. So caution is the word of the day. They realize they might have difficulties if the Israelis launch and all out counterattack. And if Israel does that, the Mullahs will be chained and in the streets.
Iran is playing the long game. While it was humiliating to have an assassination in the “safe house” Iran has been doing very well by fighting the war via proxy. It still has Hezbollah and the Houthis wreaking havoc. A direct strike from Tehran would have greenlighted Israel to level Tehran once and for all. Instead the IDF is now faced with the problem at its northern border which has no easy solution.
Khamanei doesn’t want to sleep on the floor.
