I was born in East Orange, NJ and raised in the NYC metro, but left NYC in 1976 and never looked back. I never returned even for a visit and never will step foot in NYC in my life. I despise the place.
We drove on the outskirts of NYC once. Had no desire to ever see it any closer than that and would’ve skipped it entirely if it weren’t on our long trek home. It didn’t even get any gas money from us.
