Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Monday with Israeli officials and pushed for a hostage and ceasefire deal as Democrats kicked off their convention in Chicago, with the goal of a deal by the end of the week.
President Joe Biden laid out the end-of-week goal on Saturday, and Blinken claimed that it was the “last opportunity” for an agreement — though it was not clear why, other than the political goal of reaching a deal during the convention.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog met with Blinken, and told the media afterwards that Hamas, not Israel, was blocking a hostage deal:
We are surrounded by terror from four corners of the earth, and we are fighting back as a resilient and strong nation, and this also is reflected in the attitude of Hamas in the negotiations for the release of our hostages. Because one has to remember the refusal, the adamant refusal, and I’ve been following your statements on this for months, At the end, at the bottom line of it, people have to understand it starts with a refusal of Hamas to move forward.
In his own remarks following the meeting wi

The democrats holding America hostage
Winkin and Nod unavailable for comment.
Yep, they will absolutely sell out Israel to get a deal to make Dems look good.
I thought I heard that there were something like 115 hostages still yet to be returned. Let’s talk about them.
He’s Pathetic. Makes one barf
Why would anybody want a deal? And also, it’s not a hostage deal, it’s a ceasefire deal. DC wants their pet terrorists protected and couldn’t give a flying formation about the fate of the hostages. Hell they have given billions to the Palestinians effort they have the hostages. And look gore DC screeched when the IDF did that raid and rescued some.
Hostages deal my ass. Like the Palestinians, DC is leveraging the hostages to force the IDF to stop the war.
They soooo want to announce at the convention in prime time the release of the American hostages....................
Biden and ilk are desperate to “be the ones” who “brought peace to the middle east”, and will likely pull anyhting, legal or not, to accomplish that “legacy”
With Hamas’ terror attack IN Tel Aviv Bliken can either shut up or leave
Flying fornication… autocorrect
Blinken should demand the release of all American hostages as a condition of entering into ANY negotiations, much less deals.
He won't do that.
Putin got his people back in days. Why is it taking so long for US?
Weak leadership.
Just like Biden ordered the evacuation of Afghanistan, so desperate to "be the one" regardless of its ill thought through mechanics and tragic consequences. Alzheimers is far from his main problem. You didn't have much to work with at the outset.
A Deal with Palestine may well please the demonstrators and a return of People would help PR for Kammy and Walz in Media. It would silence all the Trump efforts. IF they can do it. Israel will not be pleased if we get our guys and they do not get theirs.
Oh those pesky Hamas unruly terrorist scallywags just won’t cooperate to help get Harris elected so they can REALLY attack Israel. Zero foresight smh.
Very True. The left do not care about co sequences, they just want the “legacy” no matter how badly things turn out because they k ow the media will cover for them if things go badly. I seriously doubt that many liberals even know that Americans were left behind in Afghanistan or that biden ,eft all that stuff there as they get their news from the feckless msm.
CNN when it began was very conservative- but so ehwere along the line, greed and power crept in and they went far left, and now folks don’t get the news anymore from them, but rather get whitewash and coddling of the leftist leaders.
That’s right.
Perhaps:
24 hours of no bombing for every live hostage returned after August 1st
12 bonus hours for each additional live hostage returned on the same day
6 hours of no bombing for every hostage dead before August 1 delivered up
24 hours of no bombing if a complete set of tunnel maps is furnished to the Israeli negotiating team before September
These are the names in Hebrew, with Arabic and English transcriptions, of the people believed to be held hostage:

Israel, within Gaza, within any 30 day plus bombing halt hours period to use no more than 500 kilograms of high explosives via aerial bombs as there are named hostages not returned or delivered up.
HAMAS and the Palestinian Authority separately and jointly agree to prosecute all violence against hostages with terms of imprisonment comparable to those typically handed out in the USA, including for crimes as kidnapping, false imprisonment, torture, rape, murder and battery.
Israel reserves the right to shoot to kill by gunfire any suspected terrorist not treated as a war criminal should be and any person presenting an apparent armed threat to Israelis. In Gaza, HAMAS and the Palestinian Authority agree to publicly discourage unofficial public carrying of weapons Israel might think pose an apparent armed threat to Israelis. In Gaza, HAMAS and the Palestinian Authority members shall only carry weapons while in an official uniform.
Except during no bombing periods and periods of internationally evident vigorous prosecution and punishment of violent actions against hostages, Israel shall have the right to kill by missiles with warheads of less than six kilograms of high explosive suspected terrorists not treated as a war criminal should be.
Restrictions imposed on Israel by this agreement shall voided by any Gazan source action in gross violation of this agreement, including the taking of one or more hostages.
NOTE 1: Every Gazan would have an incentive to find hostages so they can be returned.
NOTE 2: Does not call for the release of terrorists now held by Israel.
NOTE 3: Caps the amount of bombing Israel can do within any 30-day period and reduces even that upon the return of each hostage.
NOTE 4: Allows Palestinians to deal with terrorists and war criminals now running loose in Gaza judicially themselves rather than having the IDF deal with them.
