US-Mexico row gathers steam as Latin American country pivots away from Washington’s grip

A diplomatic row is gaining steam between Mexico and the United States.

Outgoing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has accused the US of sponsoring opposition NGOs such as the group Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI) through USAID programs. Obrador said his Foreign Ministry had sent a diplomatic notice, while he would personally write to US President Joe Biden about it.

The US government has sent nearly $5 million to MCCI since 2018, with private donors including the Rockefeller and Ford foundations, Mexico’s Financial Crimes Unit (UIF) said.

BRICS within five years. There’s an outside chance Trump can stop it. What if the Mexicans decided to secure their border and the point of entry into the U.S. for Central America’s illegal immigrants and Chinese drugs with Russian Federation forces? Goose, meet Mr. Gander.

Mexico is a failed state. The only thing keeping Chyna out is the cartels.

Lose/lose, AFAIC.

This is why zeepers are such hypocrites.

Mexico and the US have always been engaged in a (mostly) quiet war, so this is nothing new.

Also, if there’s one country in Latin America noted for its borders, it’s Mexico. Their southern border is heavily controlled (and patrolled) and if “migrants” get in it’s only because they’re on their way to the US and being facilitated, probably for a lot of money, by the Mexican government.

Trump had the “Remain in Mexico” plan, which gave the Mexicans money for keeping them there or returning them to their home countries (since Mexico really doesn’t want any more gangs) and that actually helped.

But this is just Mexico sounding off in hopes of getting more money, no matter who wins our elections.

If Washington had a “grip” on Mexico then Mexico wouldn’t be able to keep sending their illegals to drain or coffers.

Mexico is a failed state. The only thing keeping Chyna out is the cartels.

You have more freedom living in Mexico than in the UK. You just have to be street smart and mind your own business while living in Mexico and you can do your own thing for most part. The cartels are not going to care what you're doing. You're more likely to get the UK government get on your case if you live in their country.

What will Trump do to Mexico when he takes office? More importantly it’s what he’ll demand that’s interesting.

Correct. Remember Germany was assisting them against the US? Prior to WWI.

Hopefully high taxation of money being sent to Mexico via Western Union, Money Gram and all those services (maybe 50% tax)

There’s much more freedom in Mexico. The economy is almost laissez-faire. There’s next to no polical correctness or wokeness. The culture is much more Christian than the US. Men and women are quite different. No one trusts the government.

They are, shall one say it— highly malleable and easily bought. Have been since well before Pancho Villa and Benito Juarez. Used to be centered around oil- nationalized. Now it is Narco-Terrorism and Chi-Com fentanyl and human trafficking. Must be terrible to be a country which such flimsy sense of being a Nation. Instead of a doormat.

As a general rule, oh yes. But interestingly enough, during WW2 Mexico did send a fighter squadron to assist us in the Pacific. The unit took part in the Philippines campaign.

“Mexico has never been our ally.”

Amen. Mexicans have long bemoaned the fact that they “are so far from God, and so close to the United States.”

From time to time, Mexico has suffered incursions from both European countries (during our Civil War, a royal house attached to the Austro-Hungary Empire was established in Mexico), and the US itself, but once our civil war was concluded, the usurpers were booted out. Mexico went through several revolutions, until just before the First World War, General “Black Jack” Pershing took an expeditionary force in and quelled most of the revolutionaries, restoring some degree of peace to the land. There has always been a steady trickle of migrants that came into the US, earned some Yanqui dollars, and returned home. Only now, increasing numbers are NOT returning home, and the best and brightest simply stay in the United States, furthering the “brain drain” in their land.

EASY. Identify each and every drug lab, Cartel cribs in the jungles, etc. and BOMB THEM MERCILESSLY.

THEN, tell Mexico that unless they stop the caravans of illegals/murderers heading towards our border along with the tonnage of FENTANYL KILLING THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS, THEIR ENTIRE COUNTRY IS SUBJECT TO BEING BOMBED AND/OR INVADED BY AMERICAN FORCES.

MUCK FEXICO.

If you are an expat with no need to work or run a business in Mexico, I agree with you completely. But if you are a Mexican national or trying to run a business in Mexico, the government and the cartels all want their piece. (I own property in Mexico and drive there often).

It is a beautiful country with generous and kind people. But it is being held hostage by the corrupt government and criminals.
