Ukraine has destroyed a key bridge in Russia’s Kursk region and struck a second one nearby, less than two weeks into its stunning cross-border incursion, disrupting Russian supply routes and possibly signaling that its troops are planning to dig in.
Russia’s pro-Kremlin military bloggers have acknowledged that the destruction of the first bridge, which spanned the Seim River near the town of Glushkovo, will impede deliveries of supplies to Russian forces repelling Ukraine’s incursion, although Moscow could still use pontoons and smaller bridges in the area. Ukraine’s air force chief, Lt. Mykola Oleshchuk, on Friday released a video of a Ukrainian airstrike that split the bridge in two.
Less than two days later, Ukrainian troops hit a second bridge in Russia, according to Oleshchuk and the Russian regional governor, Alexei Smirnov.

- As Ukrainian forces continue military operations in Kursk, Russia, the actual line of contact continues to crumble as Russian forces advance;
- Ukrainian progress in Kursk was due to a lack of Russian troops which are now flooding the area to contain and then roll back Ukrainian troops;
- Russian advances along the line of contact consists of overtaking extensive Ukrainian defensive positions;
- The Kursk incursion will raise the cost for Russia, but ultimately will accelerate the collapse of Ukraine’s own fighting capacity;
- US JASSM cruise missiles are being considered for Ukraine, a critical munition required for any future operation against China and a munition that is not produced in quantities equal or larger than even Russian-made cruise missiles;
- JASSMs are air-launched, meaning their use will be restricted by Ukraine’s small number of military aircraft capable of launching them;
We sell that missile to different countries and a new production line was opened to meet foreign needs and our own stock.

During the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region, hundreds of Russian soldiers were captured. Many of them were conscripts. Putin promised not to throw them against experienced Ukrainian troops, but in the first days of the Kursk operation, they became a human shield on the border, with Kadyrov’s detachments behind them.
The 488th Motorized Rifle Regiment, 17th Battalion was one of those who were defeated in a matter of hours during the Ukrainian offensive. Denys Hlushko, a 24-year-old conscript whose first combat experience was in the Kursk region, was also captured.
